Hello beautiful people

It's a beautiful day out here and I hope you all are doing great just as I am here.

This is another beautiful creativity I bring to you from my sewing room, I recently made this igbo madam off shoulder blouse for my neighbor for Sunday service using lace fabric.

At first, this was a challenge for me as I was literally forced to use 1yard of lace fabric to achieve this style which seems not be be ordinarily possible except being a pro or someone who knows actually what he he she is doing, well since I have been making a madam blouse as this, I have always been using 1½yards of fabric but this time, my neighbor thought just 1yard of fabric would be enough so she went to the market, bought a yard of fabric and brought it to me.

Immediately she told me that she got a yard of lace fabric, I was troubled inside of me thinking of how to make this possible, I told her she should have gotten 1½yards bought she said she never knew and that she actually asked at the market from the lady that sold it for her and she said 1yard would be enough to make a blouse.

Well, 1yard would have been enough if only it's not for the particular style and design she choose.

I started thinking on a possible way to get this done, obviously with this amount of fabric, the only thing is for me to make an off shoulder blouse before thinking on the design to add, after taking my decision to make an off shoulder blouse, I brought out my brown paper which usually helps me to minimize fabric and get a perfect shape for my outfit, I drafted out an off shoulder princess dart bustier down to the hip line, using the bust, waist, hip and other necessary measurement.

The pattern was carefully placed on the lace fabric making sure that the fabric will be enough after placing the front and back pattern on the fabric, I cut out the same shape for the blouse.

The lace was placed on the 1 trouser length of matching color satin material I bought with 1yard of lining to cut out same shape, the satin was used to serve as the underlay of the blouse with the help of hemming gum which was neatly pressed with iron to make it firm while the lining is used to turn it inside out for neat finishing.

The front and back were neatly sewn together

When placing my drafted pattern on the lace fabric, I make sure there is enough left to make an off shoulder sleeve, after cutting out the bodice, the remaining fabric was used to cut out an off shoulder sleeve.

The off shoulder sleeves were sewn to the blouse to have a complete blouse.

Just to add a little creativity to the blouse and make it stylish, I made a flounce with the remaining satin material and sew it to one side of the sleeve.

This is the final and beautiful outcome of the igbo madam blouse I made for my neighbor, I'm sure you like this design as well.

Thanks so much boss.

There was a time I read your post on how you made something similar for your mum, it was beautiful as well and I loved it so much.

I am curious that you work the fabric on the floor, I also prefer the floor to mark the fabric, make the patterns or cut it, I feel that I am more in control of the material and it makes me feel more confident, I thought it was a nice similarity 💙

On the other hand you handled brilliantly the amount of fabric provided by your client, that's very important in a textile artist, to know how to solve unexpected situations! Especially when clients bring incomplete amounts of material 😳

It's more comfortable for me to cut fabric on the floor but for the pattern, it was drafted on my table for it usually convenient for me that way.

It is challenging sometimes to want to use incomplete amount of fabric to make an outfit but I'm glad I was able to achieve my desired style despite the challenge faced.

Thanks for you beautiful comment.
