Practicing again

(Edited)

Oops I did it again! I went mia for a while again.

2023 has only started and it's starting off really really intense on my end, I swear. I didn't go up the mine site this time but I did climb a different mountain recently and I just regained the energy and liveliness to write again.

I know it's been a while since I last posted anything, and to be fair, I did try drafting, it's just that I had writer's block and art block again. A huge creative block, so to speak because of the intense training they've been giving me at work. It's in preparation for the peak mining season, but still, so many workshops and trainings.

Anyways, today was a more chill day than I could have asked for so I got to draw a bit while at work. Luckily they still let me put my art stuff there because I would be sad if I couldn't see at least one splash of color in my whitewashed lab.

So for today, I made this lady. She's based off Rita Lina, an actress from the black and white era. I find her absolutely beautiful and I really wanted to go for something a bit easier since it's been what? A month or so? since my last drawing? maybe 2 months now?

Then I showed this drawing to my best friend and she asked me if I'd drawn that lady already, and I said no.
I'm surprised she still remembers the old victorian lady I did a drawing of last year.

For reference, this is her. I made it when I was a bit sad and I really see my mood in this drawing XD

But yeah, they do look similar, but still different people and different hair approach XD

Here is my progression:

I inked it when I got home because I started sketching around 3pm my time, an hour before I had to go home. Sadly, I had to extend a little bit more because I played with my pet cats in the lab XD

So that's the rough inking then I refined it white some diluted white ink and chalk to give it a bit of highlight.

I actually finished this after dinner and was planning to post this earlier but my exercise alarm sounded and I need these stretching exercises since my company enrolled me in jiu jitsu classes since they fear for my safety outside the lab and the mine site. I've more or less adjusted to the workout and have lost about 2kgs already? but yeah, the exercise is still tiring and takes about an hour to complete.

Anyways, before I start rambling more about what's been happening with me, I should stop here and proceed to the rest of my drafts while I have a momentum going on.

Materials used: Ink, ball pen, chalk, white ink
duration: 2.5 hours. 3-ish hours if I include the ink drying

You made it back! That's a relief. Your portrait looks very charming 🥹

It's good to hear you're doing alright, and still finding time to create some art with your heavy workload. Have a great evening, Hanz! 🌱🌠

Even if it's not perfect, that's OK! It's a symbol of the peace you had making it : )

I've been quiet on my posts, but I'm doing alright! Steady as she goes.

Oh have you been busy with life too? So you've been posting less?

Yes, work is up and down. I never know how many hours long the workday will be because I work for a small family-owned business and we don't have enough people for the workload. I have to be ready to help fill in the gaps.

And something is up with my ecency app. It's fine when I'm voting and commenting, but when I try to post, it's glitchy af and crashes. So meh.

ohh so you work at a local place, I can imagine the rush when it's meal time though. hopefully it's not a 24 hour place cuz that would be overwork on your end

same, ecency is still extremely buggy on my end too but mostly on the voting part

Dang, that's unfortunate. Voting is an important element. But I'm sure the ecency devs will have a new update for us soon.

Yeah, my company is small and local. We do offer 24-hour service, but I only work there weekdays, usually. It's a mechanical services company. Thanks for the chat, Hanz!! Looking forward to your next post :->

It's great that you had some time to get back into your art, being creative is so important I think and when I don't get a chance to do stuff I start to feel a bit lost.

It looks amazing! I wish I was able to draw like you can, my sketches come out looking cursed lol

Also, I was going to say that there's a bit of an error with the second picture not loading.

Have a great day and welcome back!

I was just wondering where you have been! hahaha This turned out excellent. I would never have guessed you had art block just before whipping this thing out! hahaha Great job and i hope you can at least doodle to get in the mood when you are feeling blocked or uninspired. It's a good practice with zero expectations...

I was trapped in the lab, senpai 🥲🥲 these extreme trainings reaaallyyy drained all the brain cells in me and I couldn't draw for a while. Now I think I can breathe again 🤣 as long as they don't send me back to the mine site

You are back again🤩. I thought we lost you in the mines forever haha. This painting is giving me vintage vibes. I think this is one of the best portraits paintings you made with ink. This is a nice comback :)

Lol gotta thank those Grandma's.

I don't see any problem with it. Maybe I'll see it when I mirror the picture. Either way it's a good artwork.
