This Pub will open weekly on the Pubs Community with the purpose of acting as a place to meet, socialize, exchange information, get free stuff, you get the idea for HIVE's sake!

šŸ„‡ ā—THE GATHERINGā—

We would like to give a special shout to any newcomers/newbies. If you are looking to understand what this is all about in a few quick seconds then let us know if the following helps:

The Pub (@atexoras.pub) opens every Friday between 6 and 9 UTC (not strictly) and during the 7 days, aka "Gathering", this will be a place where you can find free beverages, food, other tokens from visitors, or even share your thoughts/posts/fights/initiatives, as well discussing interesting topics and meet new people. Can't make it on the first days... no worries, that's why it is open for 7 days.

In addition to the usual stuff, the Pub also gives away one NFT on every gathering, drawn between all visitors of that Gathering, at the end of it, before the new one opens.

There is also another giveaway running for already a couple of months, the End-of-the-year 2021 SPS Giveaway! where an interesting amount of SPS will be given away to a lucky winner at, obviously, the end of the year. All you need to do to become eligible for the draw is to share a link from at least one splinterlands battle with your account (must have a Spell Book purchased).

This is an initiative with a focus on onboarding and helping others, constantly adapting and shaping itself, given the possibilities. The long-term goal is to distribute a self-sustainable and decentralized way of running it. Check the Live Scratch Paper for any other relevant up-to-date information about this project.

New Discord Channel šŸ‘‰ #pub-gatherings

We have added a new channel for the gatherings announcements and will use @everyone when a new gathering comes up. If you don't wish to be bothered, you can simply mute that channel.

This will hopefully help to signal everyone that is not yet used to the timings. Most likely new users that didn't yet have the time to catch up with how the Pub works.

Chaos Legion

Packs are being opened and this week we have a "Chaos Legion" card on the NFT giveaway. If you would like to help, we always appreciate donations for future giveaways. If you wanna have a peek at the recently 10 packs @forykw opened, for you to have a very raw idea of what things are dropping.

Be sure to have potions before opening packs, so you maximize the chances of getting really great cards. You can get potions either by buying them in the Shop or by completing quests. You might some as well when the season ends.

Don't forget that anyone can send up their own art/NFTs to the Pub representing the image of the Pub. Contact @forykw before doing so.

If you would like to become one, let us know what you think you could help with. We are not looking for any particular type. This is a per best effort and there is no time expectation of any kind from the Pub's perspective. You give what you can when you can.

The idea is to build a fully decentralized team that can over time, make the Pub self-sustainable, with as little as possible from everyone, but that when combined, creates a huge impact.

Pub Helpers can also have access to the Posting Authority of the Pub, if they wish to help with writing or other tasks... Let's @forykw know if you feel like helping in this part. It's probably a bigger step for many, but if you are keen on helping at this level (for example, helping with content for each gathering and dropping that content in the draft post kept under the Peakd).

Hello šŸ‘‹ I'm somewhat new to Hive, very new to the pub, and sliding in the door tonight to have a drink šŸ· with you all... before I disappear early to bed šŸ¤£ !LOL

So, before I drink too much and lose my amazing faculties I best say something intelligent. Is that how this works? Hmm, let me imagine you've said 'yes' šŸ˜‰

@new.things (aka Brad) my partner in crime, adventure and life told me to come and have a sticky beak. So I guess I need to blame thank him for my being here.

Should I tell you about my week? I think that's what you do if you're sitting around the pub on a Friday night, right? I wouldn't know, I don't think I've ever regularly sat down on a Friday night with any one group of people before. #hermit

So, my week on Hive: I wrote some things. I learned some things. I responded to some other people's awesome things. I think that pretty much summarises it šŸ˜†

Okay, so I might be being a bit of a smart arse. (How many drinks have you already had Conscious Cat? You ain't being so conscious now, are you?) Ahem. Okay, sorry about that.

Hive. My week. What was I saying? Oh yes. I did some productive things, as in, I actually produced some things. I did some creative things (I like to call them poetry, but I'm not sure what others call them when I'm not around...). And I definitely learned some things. Like I now know how to do this crossing out my words thing. I think I have @fionasfavourites to thank for that. Are you in here too Fiona? I can't see you!

But that might be because I've had a little too much to drink... šŸ¤¦ I think I better head to bed before this gets too out of control. Gnight! šŸ˜“

Ladies' night, here we go... !LOL

You are more a !WINE person... I am usually divided between both. This is Portugal's fault... and due to the weather there. In summer, !BEER and all sorts of wines... sea food, hummmm...

To be honest, these last two weeks have been like a slave.... not enough time to play with all my toys.

Hopefully, with the upcoming vacations, that will change.

@thebeardflex, another suggestion to your bot, will be to show tipping per day? the above example is a great example on how that would change the output.

My crypto.com metal credit card has arrived I should be interesting to see what sort of rewards I can earn. First step will be to see how to un stake the crow I needed to get it. It was way quicker than the 180 day wait they talked about. Am looking forward to using it as I haven't been able to use many of the qantas rewards points I have earnt on my other card.

My first ever splinterlands pack opening too. Was a bit of bit of a process for a newbie, I had a ask questions thanks @forykw and thanks to @jfang003 too who's post I read a number of times and his rising stars beginner tips were very helpful too.
Now all new splinterlands cards to learn I only was just getting used to the old ones but should be fun.

First step will be to see how to un stake the crow I needed to get it. It was way quicker than the 180 day wait they talked about.

You don't Yes you need to stake to order this card... only above this one. I have the green one for example. It should take 180 days from when you first staked... but if you order half way... you can unstake sooner... Either way, it pays off way more to have the CRO staked to get those extra rewards when using the card. I am even thinking of upgrading to the next level... but 50k stake... is quite a lot!

Parallel to this, I am testing (slow work) the validator node. With the mainnet launched transacting on the CRO chain is super cheap, compared with the ETH. Download the wallet (non-custodian one) and you can also use it on PC by importing the same seed phrase.

Not sure if you followed someone's referral, but if you did, you have like a few days to stake CRO to get the 25USD reward. I think the minimum is 50 CRO if it's still the same.

Using mouse over the abilities on the splinterlands cards gives you more info about what those abilities do.

You are more a fan of !WINE or !BEER ... just curious... as for me it depends quite a lot, but by default it might be WINE... if alone... or BEER if with others... !LOL can't explain...

There is no Whiskey token... otherwise, that one would be for sure another one. Especially some single malts... or even some very old blends.

Would definitely be interested to know about that... they are usually helpful if you persist.

I agree they are becoming a very big organization and that brings all sorts of crap... such as L1 support that can't do anything else but to psychologically comfort you and be a middle man messager... but eventually it works out.

Has your country been whitelisted for the cards?

Needless to say that this whole interaction made me feel absolutely miserable like I'm this socially stinky person and people have some kind of dirt on me, but no one is willing to talk about it, or face me, or just ..anything. I was shut out in the cold, not knowing what the reasoning is, not having a chance to get any kind of reply. I guess I could have been more persistent, but I'm not that kind of a person. If I feel unwanted I will RUN instead of trying to convince someone to like me or accept me.

Well, I guess from their perspective they are so swamped that they don't have the kind of time to respond to me, but.. then that's just it, I guess it's better that I don't have the card since I would not have the guts to go through this kind of painful process in case I actually had some kind of issues with the money on their card.

And yes, I agree pulling the GDPR 'card' on them was low of me, not my proudest moment, but even if that did not mobilize them, then I guess nothing would.

Either way, as I said this whole interaction with them just made me feel completely pathetic and miserable, so I guess I don't want to do business with a company that makes me feel that way.. xD But yeah, I am still salty about it.. because those cards do be looking damn fine..

Thanks for sharing this. It kind of confirms what I already knew... their support LVL1 is crap... and does not have any power to understand the processes they need to follow.

I completely understand your position and I was even very close to the spot you have been at... but because I "care not more than crap" for their processes or politics... I usually enjoy failing their own views and proving them wrong... challenging their own stupidity of humanized robotics. Usually, I learn in the process too, and find special secrets they don't wish necessarily to unveil. LOL

Always use stupidity against stupidity LOL works best when you feel unfairly approached!

Either way, their process will eventually need to get better or another competitor will grab your lovely heart for patience and please you more.

Like @crrdlx said, these tokens are distributed via bots... these bots run over history information on the blockchain. The history is an expensive process that runs in parallel to the normal block information of the blockchain (that gets recorded on the ledger available to anyone). This history is sort of an easy processed way of accessing information from the past without having to "replay" (read) all the blocks from the beginning to that exact position (to be certain of what happened is true).

Sometimes these nodes have hiccups or need to restart and then need to catch up...
The bots run on this history and hence will only "action" things once that history catches up.

It's all on the ledger... so, it's just a matter of catching up and doing what was requested... no problems.

It should actually be interpreted as a normal thing to happen for applications (the bot)... similar to when a game website goes "under maintenance" while it's trying to do something on the back end... it's the same here... the difference is that the front ends don't block you into that "under maintenance" page... and you just keep waiting until the website shows you what was already "digitally verified".

Also, what you wrote about things catching up is correct. The LUV token uses a python script that "listens" to the Hive blockchain and scans for !LUV commands. When it gets one, the script sends one LUV from the @LUVshares account to the person being commented to. Sometimes the communication between the script and the witness nodes gets broken. Then, it tries to reconnect and usually does. However, at times things time-out and the script shuts down and must be manually restarted. When restarted, it simply goes back to the last block recorded, then moves forward, picking up any !LUV commands that were left during the down time. !LUV

Good question about swearing... I guess I haven't defined ages for visitors in here... but I will leave that in everyone's hands. I sometimes feel like swearing... depends I guess. For now, I don't think the Pub has an under 18 attendance. Also, if you don't say them in English I guess probabilities are even lower.

Hope everyone's had a good week, and having an even better weekend. Thought I'd better stop in and share my 2cents for the week.

Being a newbie in the cryptoverse, its been a pretty massive week for me. While prices continued to plummet I'm smiling, because its opened a good entry point for me to get behind a few projects I've taken a liking too.

Staked a little bit of pocket money in a couple projects this weekend that I'm really intrigued in, and believe have a reputable team driving the projects (similar strategy I adopt to buying stock in the past).

In this experience, also learnt a decent amount about moving tokens between different wallets, different chains that exist, different trading platforms, and ultimately how to swap coins and get the coin you desire in the right wallet to stake in these projects.

Probably sound like bit of a goose describing this, as its probably pretty simple stuff. But really enjoyed learning this week, and excited to see what the next few months hold.

Trying to build my knowledge one week at a time. Wish you all a happy week to come !LOLZ

Nice attitude... and yep, that's the way. Keep it focused on what you really can grasp and then develop on that until other areas become more prone for exploration.

But don't feel you can't ask any questions here... any questions are ok.

The best way for reaching out to true Defi on Hive-Engine is to understand how this community works first, and then plan your way into the enormous world of Defi.
