Yep, generally we who are strangers to Japanese culture, discover samurai and ninja for the first time in various fantasy, literary and cinematic creations. For me it was the artistic film Miyamoto Musashi - a fairly old classic film that i had the opportunity to watch on videotape in the 90s. I was too young, i didn't really understand many words, but i liked watching that swordplay between those actors. In the country where i was born and where i still live my life, not many details are taught to students about the history and traditions of this type of people - in general, we discover about the vast majority of Asian peoples thanks to movies, books that we read out of curiosity (The Shogun - the most interesting book) and of course the cartoons (there are many animes that marked my childhood in a rather pleasant way). The most interesting Japanese legend to have been inspired by real events would be 47 Ronin - in my opinion it is at the top of my favorite legends...honor above all!!!
