This Blog post aim to get you up to date with the new initatives !

Things are moving fast and our planet says: "THANK YOU !"

Sustainable Finance

In the latest of a series of protests against the German government’s new agricultural package, farmers across the country have been travelling with their tractors through German cities and the countryside, causing widespread disruptions. The anger is mostly directed towards new planned regulations presented at the beginning of September, which, among other things, stipulate banning glyphosate in Germany and reducing the nitrate content in ground water by cutting the use of certain fertilisers and liquid manure.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has criticised the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) decision to ban funding on natural gas projects by the end of 2021, as natural gas was needed as a bridging technology to smooth Germany’s energy transition from nuclear and coal.

Sustainable Solutions – Agricultural technology

Norwegian salmon farmer Mowi has signed an agreement with Scale AQ for five new feed barges with a storage capacity of 500 metric tons of feed, all of which will be equipped with built-in data sharing and remote feeding capabilities, scheduled to be delivered in 2020.

Sustainable Solutions – Foodtech

According to a new report by animal-welfare group World Animal Protection, 80% of a total of 160 pork samples tested from Mid-Atlantic Walmart stores were resistant to at least one antibiotic, while 37% of the bacteria were resistant to three or more classes. Overall, c. 27% of the resistant bacteria found on the tested meat were resistant to classes categorized as ‘Highest Priority Critically Important Antimicrobials’ by the WHO.

Sustainable Solutions – Plastics

In a move that would reduce the company’s reliance on virgin plastic by several hundred tonnes a year, convenience food giant Greencore has signed up to the Plastics Pact and pledged to make 100% of its packaging sustainable by 2025.

Hello dear friend @vlemon.

Interesting selection of topics for your report.

Several of these news correspond to Europe, so I was very surprised that none of these proposals you mentioned related to AI, due to the boom in the development of this technology in the old continent.
It is in London where the conference was recently held to establish the ethical principles for the development of AI.

Hopefully we will soon hear news of how AI would be benefiting all these sectors of Finance, AgriTech, Plastics and Foodtech.

Thanks for comment.

All best, Piotr.

The walmart pig story is especially concerning - if ever one needed another excuse to be vegetarian.... hmmmm....

Thank you for keeping the bigger picture in our sights. x
