• Kraft Heinz, Tyson among lowest for anti-deforestation efforts as industry falls short of 2020 goal (SupplychainDive)

According to CPD, the Consumer Goods Forum will not meet its 2020 goal to achieve net-zero deforestation in supply chains for palm oil, soy and cattle, with companies Danone, Nestlé, Unilever and L'Oréal at the top of CDP's list in terms of reducing their deforestation risk while ConAgra, Kraft Heinz, Tyson Foods and Restaurant Brands (owner of Burger King) have the highest deforestation risk exposure of the 22 companies studied.

Researchers examined 37 years of data tied to plant biodiversity and productivity related to 21 grasslands and savannas in Minnesota (most of which had been ploughed and abandoned for agricultural use between one and 91 years prior) and found that local grassland plant diversity increased significantly over time, but incompletely recovered, and plant productivity did not significantly recover.

Following the EU council’s adoption of the ‘Conclusions on Oceans and Seas’ which found "that climate change is a direct and existential threat to life in oceans and seas globally” and states that “member states unanimously stress the need for immediate action against increasing threats on our oceans, seas and coastal areas", the NGO ‘Our Fish’ is demanding that the EU honours its pledge to end overfishing by 2020.
