You can now get your PALnet.io Claim Drop on steem-engine.com
Well - I could have waited a bit and put yesterday's post and today's announcement in one long-form post, but I honestly didn't think the PALcoin Claim Drop would be ready to use in only 24 hours. But here it is: every Steemian that has been somewhat active the past few months has been put on some sort of 'whitelist' for the PALcoin Claim Drop, which means you now have one month to claim yours. After the claim you can either sell your PAL or stake them and turn them into Pal Power.
Huh?
Here you go:
- Go to steem-engine.com
- Log in with Keychain (preferred) or any other method you use to log in on Steem based websites
- Go to your wallet
- Find the PALcoin icon/button in the top left corner
- Click it
- Find your PAL in both your steem-engine.com wallet and in your palnet.io wallet

That's it!
You can now choose to stake these PALcoins on palnet.io (go to your wallet), which will turn them into Pal Power, which is basically the same as Powering up which turns your STEEM into Steem Power. This means you can use the Pal Power to upvote posts on palnet.io and adding some value to posts. Remember: there's 50% curation rewards on palnet.io so it's worth it to curate over there! Also: don't forget that if you give a 50% upvote on palnet.io it will also trigger a 50% upvote on Steem ;-)

I click on my wallet on steem-engine and it doesn't work. Your link to the site works fine.

You're welcome! Maybe read Julia's post as well for some more words to explain the same thing, sometimes it suddenly clicks. In a very short way it's just a different website with the same content, but not all content, just content that uses certain tags. I think we'll see this for food posts, travel posts, etc - just a way to filter out content that doesn't interest you.

Its not lol. I've tried several times. On steem-engine or the wallet on palnet the button doesn't show up at all.

Thank you! I was able to get 554 PALcoins, I even stake some of them, I voted through PAL, but I was not able to increase the number of PAL, maybe I don't have enough power. This guide was quick and easy to follow.
You're welcome! 554 PALcoins is a nice amount! I didn't see any PAL added with my upvotes either, I'm not sure yet how many are needed for that to happen. Sometimes stuff gets through a bit slow though, since PALnet is a 'layer' on Steem, as far as I understand it every action has to be registered on Steem first and then read through Palnet.io.
Let's see how it balances out if more people add PAL to their wallets and the price of PAL gets some value :-)

I had to try 3 times to claim my PAL tokens. Other than that it went smooth and I was able to see the balance reflecting. Nice post.

Each post that has the tag 'palnet' will be upvoted with PAL as well as STEEM! So no need to do it on palnet.io, you can do it on each frontend, and even post with 'palnet' as a tag is enough to appear on palnet.io :D Cool huh?!

With our biggest question. How much is your palpower worth? If I do a steemworld 1600 steempower test. I get a 0.02 dollar vote if I vote now with full palpower (1600) I get 0.00 pal on the vote. You can give 50/50 but 50/50 out of 0.00 is still 0.00 😉😅

No-one yet knows how much PALPower will be worth, that will take a few weeks to balance out since the ClaimDrop is still in effect and the price is changing still :-) Also, it takes a while before your vote on PAL gets 'registered' as the Scotbot has to read it from the Steem blockchain, which isn't as quick as directly voting on Steem.

It wasn't working for me at first, but I think the Privacy Badger extension may have messed it up until I disabled it. I have my PAL now and have staked it. Need to understand what that means for me. Thanks
It means every time you upvote a post that also uses 'palnet' as a tag it will 'reward' that user also wit PAL :-)

It looks neat, but coming to PAL and just seeing some of my feed is a little frustrating. I may try doing a post with it.
Yeah, only seeing part of your feed is the point - although that effect will be stronger if it wasn't palnet.io but for example 'foodlovers.io' - so you only see part of your feed because you're a food lover and only want to read up on food posts. It's interesting to see where this will go, for now I see palnet.io as a nice experiment which will give us some early results on SMT/communities/a tokenized internet :-) Cheers!
I'm finding this a bit odd. I voted on PalNet and now both sites have the upvote flag on. You say there is an incentive to do it ONLY on PalNet and not Steemit?
Hey @slobberchops, I understand your question, but the thing is: every vote on PALnet is automatically triggering that same (%) upvote on Steem. So unfortunately you can't just upvote on PALnet and leave Steem be. A 50% upvote on PALnet is a 50% upvote on Steem, no matter what.
What I did mean is if you curate on Palnet.io you get 50% curation rewards for your PAL Power. So that's a better return than on Steem for your Steem Power. (Until HF21 :P).
To make it even more complex... every post that is tagged with palnet that you curate on Steem will be upvoted on palnet.io :D Haha. That means: 25% curation rewards for your STEEM, and 50% for your PAL.
There are more 'tags' now that are linked to new Steem Engine condensers, like weedcash, triplea, and many many more. Using your tags seems to become less about content and more about 'picking communities'...?

Hey @dkkarolien! Good you claimed them! You can go to palnet.io and 'stake' them like Steem Power... After that if you vote on posts on palnet.io you also earn curation rewards in PAL :-)
