Sports are Over 😭

Hi Friends,

As I am sure you have heard – virtually all sports industries have suspended play due to coronavirus fears. This is a sad day for sports, and is certainly unprecedented, especially for something that has effected less than 1,500 people in the US (many of whom have already recovered).

The pressure by the media, local governments and freaked out citizens has been so intense that these venues had to give in. People will always get sick in every country and shutting down sporting events to prevent illness is not a sustainable solution going forward. This may be the new normal though, as I can see this sort of thing now playing out every flu season.

This was not the March Madness I was expecting…

Do you think coronavirus fears/responses are valid or do you think fears/responses are overblown?

I am not very worried about the virus. I am worried about the economic chaos that will begin.
When there are no sports competitions, schools are closed, theaters/cinemas are closed, people do not get in the same physical place, that means that those who work in restaurants, stadiums, schools and universities, etc, will lose their jobs because their employers are not having any income. That will generate a social crisis.
