A little taste of my recent vacation through Slovakia...

avatar

Good night, everyone.

I've just returned from two awesome weeks of vacations... and my photos are not yet sorted and organised. It's getting quite late and I need to wake up in just 6 hours... Either way, I am not going to bed before leaving here a small sample of my journey. A teaser for my next posts, if you wish.

First, I landed on Budapest, Hungary where it was crazy hot. The skies were a bit dark... and I caught a few rain and thunderstorms.

From there I took a bus to Zvolen, in Slovakia, a nice and cosy little town. There's not much to do but the people seemed quite happy. Beautiful landscapes all around.

After an interesting train ride, I arrived the station of Banska Stiavnica, a town nearby known by its steep slopes and streets. Every little walk was like a mountain hike!

The train ride out from Banska Stiavnica was even crazier... but I had to go back to Zvolen so I could catch a bus to Nitra, situated between Zvolen and Bratislava.

I loved the great public parks in Nitra. Perfect for a walk just before sunset.

After a few sleepless nights in Nitra, I catched another train to Bratislava... It's center is very picturesque and charming.

And finally, I stepped onto another train to go to Vienna, in Austria where I took the chance to see some places of the city I had missed earlier this year.

After this, it was time to go back home... and start dreaming about next year's vacations.

I have spent a couple of days in each of these places... and I wouldn't mind staying a few more. I have plenty of stories and photos to share.

I'll tell you a few more about these places, so stay tuned for the next episodes.

Looking forward to further detailed show of the trip.

Yes, @angelro, it is quite simple to go from place to place... and the train and bus tickets cost between 2€ and 7€. Pretty cheap, compared to the prices here in Portugal.

Thanks a lot, @digi-me. Yes, I was afraid the rain would ruin it but I ended up being very lucky and the bad weather went away!

How long did all that travelling take you? Was there any authentic Hungarian or Slovakian treats you picked up while you were there? I really want to get to Europe again and explore sometime this year

13 days, including the plane trips. I stayed just a couple of days in each place.

Yes, I tried a few things, mostly in the street food vendors. There was a bit of everything, including a mix between Italian and Slovakian food, sold by an Italian family in Bratislava.

I haven't tried many of the local cuisine because the weather was extremely hot and I preferred to make lighter meals.

Thanks for your visit and comment.

Nice, the mentality of people is important and because I'm a calmer human I like peaceful and calm places where people are happy. :)

Thanks for your visit! This place is not very calm, it's like this all night long, so you better sleep in the daytime! 😂

Lovely view for the people in the apartments of the second photo.

I have steep slopes every where in Kuala Lumpur. I call them mountains though, lol.

Loving the stairs to a window! What happened there?

You sure do get around. I do not know if I will get back to Europe. SE Asia has got me now :)

"Loving the stairs to a window! What happened there?"

I don't know but I found it funny, too!

Yes, I've been trying to travel more. There are so many places to visit... and very short time to do it. Next year I might do another tour through Slovakia, to see what I missed in towns like Banska Bystrica, Poprad and Kosice. It's so easy to move from town to town by bus or train ... and the tickets are really cheap. 😎

Thanks for your visit!
