Ocean or Mountain? Your Choice!

Some like the oceans and others the mountains. I bring you both here!
South Africa is known for it's wonderful nature scenes and I bring you just a snippet of it's beauty.

Of course many also like both ocean and mountain as I do.
I did an experiment earlier this week by posting one post in the morning and another on the same day in the afternoon.
Sadly it did not work as I think it split our page visitors and together both posts amounted to about $3.
So now I am trying a new experiment by bringing you two quality posts in one.
Let's see how it goes!

Note; this post is also suitable for #featheredfriday by Lady @melinda010100

A bee asking a butterfly for a seat!
This is a photo of post no. 2 below the first ocean post here.

Post No.1.

all1zc.jpg

Note how a large flock of "Terns" gather in a wide circle!
I presume that they sit according to their rank.

jw76na.jpg

At my approach they rise in a cloud of birds!
No one bumping into another!
Think what this could do for our traffic congestion?

vw7i6u.jpg

Only here did I see that there were both Terns and Gulls in the group!

t3m6er.jpg

The birds also flew in a wide circle around me, as here and in the first photo.

Right, and now for the second post!

Post No 2.

I have long wondered about this tree at the back of our cottage!

b1g622.jpg

Oh my goodness, look at what I found in the tree!

ghdsf0.jpg

Looks like some of nature's chandeliers, doesn't it?

fj2jt5.jpg

This could be lights in any big shopping center!

dp4cjl.jpg

At the bottom of the tree is our thorn cactus and it's flowers had a visitor!

zb4aq4.jpg

Here the visitor leaves to go to the next flower!

s98y6q.jpg

A trio of Citrus Swallowtails!
I took this photo in January this year, just to show you what I am expecting later in December and early January.

l0ym7i.jpg

And finally, the mountains that form the backdrop to all of the photos above!

We are blessed to have both ocean and mountains with several wine and fruit farms here in the bay.
Should you ever want to visit, please ensure that you ask one of the South Africans here on steemit for advice!

Cape Town was recently voted as one of the top cities to visit and you are welcome to have a look at the #travelfeed posts of @jaynie to see some magnificent sites.

We hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and thank you for visiting a post by @papilloncharity

Could never select between the two, both appealing. Bird photography from a beach always creative with they way they take off.

Bees and butterflies and powder puff flowers how could anyone say one is prettier than the other.

Mountains look inviting today Stephen.

They do indeed Lady Joan, but that sun out there is not very conducive to external explorations. Beach early in the morning and then helter skelter home to get out of the sun Lol
Rather film around the home here in the shade of the garden trees to get the powder puff flowers Lol
Blessings, thank you and hope your weekend is great!

Alas I do not get to the beach as often as when my late brother was alive, both of us believed during summer on the beach before 7am off by 9am, winter 8am to 10am. Family all move later now and the beach is a no no, just too damned hot.

Our powder puff trees have pink flowers hopefully see them in bloom soon.

Thank you for the hours my friend, as I am more of an ad-hoc kind of guy.
The sun is also a big problem here, but after 6pm it is very livable and the crime is not too intense here.

I didn't even know that the trees are called "powder puff" trees, will have to Google them. Beautiful flowers.
Blessings!

some amazing images here, indeed. and ofc, I choose ocean. I'd choose it 12 times from 10.

That is one of the riveting things about CapeTown, having the mountain be the backdrop. Such a beautiful combination and one of the few, if not only cities that you don't have to make a choice.

As always a wonderful post and you make it so enticing to visit this part of the world! Thank you!

Thank you Blondie, those are the Hottentots-Holland mountains behind our place and we are about 1 hour towards the south of Cape Town city.
Decided that I was tired of city life up in Johannesburg and relocated here to this little paradise.
A fairly biggish town here, but nothing like the crushed and rushed city life and the great thing is that we are also on the outskirts of the town.
Papillon now works in the rural farming areas and the change is complete.
We are certainly blessed to have both of the great options, mountains and sea in a very close proximity here.
Blessings and thank you for the kind gift!

I love your pictures. You showed SA from different side, that I didn't know before. Especially, I didn't know that there are such beautiful mountains! So, do you live in South Africa?

Howdy sir papilloncharity! I've never seen anything like those flowers on that tree! They look like fibre optics lighting. Tremendous photos here though, all of them, and I think it worked perfectly to put two posts into one!

The tree is right here in our garden at the back my friend. I have never taken notice of it until it's seed blossoms started appearing now in early summer. But I don't think they will last very long as we have serious winds here in the "Cape of Storms"
Right now it is howling like a banshee outside and I love to fall asleep listening to their songs.
Blessings!

Such incredible work, @papilloncharity! The insect close-ups are stunning. But my favorites are the terns. I have always loved gills and terns, and have photographed them wherever I have traveled in the world. I love the mess and chaos of white wi gs when they all spring to life at once. What a thrill!

Thank you Lady Jayna and we have the same thoughts about the terns.
Especially when they are in a big group like that and one can hear the rush of their jet shaped wings.
It seems like chaos when rise up and it's everything but, as they are in perfect co-ordination in the dense cloud of wings.
Blessings and thank you!
