Discord Over Green Timeline Prompts Several Shell Execs To Quit

Several Shell executives have quit their jobs over what reports suggest are disagreements regarding the slow transition of the company on its green energy future.

At least three different executives have left the company in recent weeks who had been working in the clean energy operations for the corporation. The company says that it is pushing to net zero and looking to strengthen their team at this time.

There are allegedly rumors that some might have been questioning if there was any plan at all to eventually move into that green direction, if there would ever be such significant green energy change that they had initially hoped they'd work toward and see in the market.

“We remain firmly focused on leading in the energy transition. Doing this means reshaping Shell to enable the delivery of our strategy, to be nimbler and more competitive". - Shell spokesperson

Shell has previously claimed that they are planning to move toward net zero emissions by 2050 for their business, or sooner if possible. Those who are passionate to see that green future might want to see some drastic changes being made that top levels of management for Shell are just not ready to embrace yet, nothing too radical.

Shell has made it clear that they allegedly plan to work toward becoming a net-zero emissions energy business within the next few decades.

But is it going to happen without help from the government? Even on their own site they detail that it will take a tremendous amount of work to achieve those goals. And for right now they aren't close to that goal, and admit that their business plans aren't going to get them where they need to be, and they might not be moving quick enough. This could be what fueled the dissatisfaction of those who left.

Still, those with the company continue to maintain that they are dedicated to addressing that business efficiency and looking to offset unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions wherever and whenever possible.

The new administration in the U.S. might help to also push them along further toward achieving that goal they have for the business. Without that cooperation from government, it is unlikely that they will achieve that energy transition; according to their own CEO. Because when it comes to things like mandating carbon pricing etc, he says that much of these changes are resting upon the mandates that will come from the government, in forcing the market into that direction.
