Intel wants to open a new chip factory in Europe

In an effort to maximize the production of chips and to stop the crisis, Intel CEO, Pat Gelsinger, is in discussions with EU authorities to open a new chip factory in the EU. The news come after the Leixlip factory in Ireland has new problems because of the pandemic, they were one of the only companies that could continue their work as usual. The Intel chip factory in Ireland is in a renovation process, and is going to focus on the 7nm architecture.

The Department of Health in Ireland is investigating the problem, but the Health and Safety Authority hasn't decided to suspend their activity in the factory, and the renovation process is keeps going. In order to deal with the crisis, Pal Gelsinger has in plan to extend the production in other regions of Europe, the new locations weren't mentioned.
