Follow Friday - Welcome back

avatar

Since last Friday HIVE has gone up nearly 50%! It is a general trend across lots of coins, so its rank has not changed much, but it is great to see it keeping up. I will try to buy some for the next HPUD, but will not get as much for my money this time. If you still hold some STEEM then it may be a good time to sell it for HIVE given the price difference. All mine is gone anyway.

This could be a good time to bring people back to Hive now rewards can be worth more. Having more people using it adds to the value, so we can all benefit.

The main Hive sites are not really growing right now. I would expect @peakd to become more dominant due to the features it has, but does everyone know about it? I think we need more awareness of the various ways to use Hive.

Hypestat

@leofinance is showing good growth though and may catch up with the others soon.

Leo charts

I have just created a new Hive community dedicated to whisky (or whiskey). I know a few people here enjoy it, so I think it could be popular.

I will be updating my Brit list tomorrow, so please let me know of any I have missed. I have found a few more who will be included.

Here are the #FollowFriday selections for this week:

  • @sunsethunter is a fellow guitarist in the UK. He can really play and has some nice videos.
  • @sirlunchthehost is one of the 'old guard' who has come back after some time away. He is back to prodiing some fun art and memes. He used to do a podcast, so maybe that will return too.
  • @petrahaller is a tap dancer in London who is brand new to Hive. Please make her welcome.
  • Another person who just came back to Hive is @anomadsoul. As you might guess, he likes to travel.
  • I have mentioned him before, but @joechiappetta produces some great fun art.

Please share your own suggestions in the comments or a #FollowFriday post.

The doghouse

I have not done this section for a while, but I found that @crystalliu is up to his old tricks. He has created many more accounts such as this one that are used to milk rewards with hundreds of duplicate comments. Even if you do not downvote anything else you should consider helping deal with abuse like this that does Hive no good at all. I have already wiped out a few of these. It only takes a small downvote to get them under the payout threshold.

Spam

It is up to us to make Hive great and to deal with abuse.

Hive five!

An article made on hiveblockchain ( a miningcompany for ETH) may have worked out positively on hive as well. In the article a party invested a large amount in hiveblockchain but the article was a bit confusing and could be read as hive.

What article are you talking about? I only write about @hiveio

Bloomberg made the article I refer to. It was about the company hiveblockchain but some copied the article suggesting it had to with our hive. Good for us!

Hive was not the best name to use as it clashes with other projects including that blockchain one. It is a hard thing to search for, but it seems we are stuck with it.

You are most welcome. Hope we can meet up when such things are possible. There are quite a few Hive people in London.

Ugh, it is sad that people still continue to do that sort of thing. Nice to see some faces coming back again. I think between Ecency and PeakD that is what most people should be using if they are posting directly to Hive. The tribes have their own thing going on and I think those are great too if you are posting targeted content.

Thanks for the heads up on @crystalliu , I just did some downvoting & will continue to daily. All the payouts seem just below the “dust” threshold, but in a weeks time that may not be the case, so I’ll gladly cut them down now!

I wonder if I should create a 'bot' to deal with it. It's only cents, but will just get worse if we do nothing.

I wish hive.vote had automated downvote options rather than just downvoting as part of a trail. I'd absolutely set that up against spam farms.

I'd love spend a little more time bringing my Facebook friends over to Hive, but I have little free time to do so with so much economic problems going on in my life right now. I wish there were some big incentives for those helping the platform expand, but that will have to come from the higher-ups.

I think there is still a referral scheme with Hive Onboard. If people do have time to post then they can earn anyway. Hope things go better for you.

There is still the referral scheme, and I've onboarded people, but not with that system. From my experience, people start to think it's a pyramid scheme. Suspicions confirmed when they see I get a percentage of their post rewards. Cheers!

Personally I am not that bothered about getting a cut of what others make when I recruit them. We all benefit from more people using Hive anyway.

The way the price is going I may not be able to afford as much, but I'll be in touch.

Thanks.....well 2 weeks is a longtime in this world!! Could have reversed by then! Following your lead - I've been to use up some downvote power that was pretty much unutilised.

I've been using PeakD since it was available. It has more features than the basic hive front end.
