life in Russia - everyday survival
Hola, Home Edders community! Now it is the 1st time I am writing to this community. I wish I could do it more often, I am sure it is a very enjoyable niche. Both my wife and me were properly schooled during our life career, but we chose things to be slightly different for our babygirl, so I do have something in my pocket :P
@OCD community highlighting initiative invited to answer the question: what is the cost of living in one's country? Thats an intresting question, I understand how its connected to the home educating thing, tho I feel a bit confused writing on this subject (I dont want to look like a whining ass, as simply as that). In addition, I am experiencing a real difficulty how to combine "in one flask" a detailed story about the quality / cost of living in Russia, and a story about our own family education ...
Is the taste as good, as the smell? Need to check myself...
No murder have happened here - that is one of the 1st drawing lessons...
Medicine ... things are better here. But there are many nuances. I think that Russian medicine is better than, for example, a British one - I want to say that the volume and quality of medical services for an equal amount of money will be better in Russia. Likewise, many more health care services are available for free. This January personally, I had to treat 6 teeth. Compulsory basic free health insurance covered most of the costs. On average, I paid 2,500 rubles (about $ 33) for the treatment of one tooth.

Medical services for pets, of course, are not covered by insurance - an appointment with a veterinarian costs 1000 rubles, medicines and services cost from $ 50 and more. It is recommended not to get sick. If mom and dad get sick at the same time, the family instantly falls into a black financial hole.
For our family, high school is not an urgent issue yet, our baby isnt choosing her future career and universities any time soon... today secondary education is relevant. And here we are not a typical family. An ordinary family implements the right for free education, as stated in the Constitution: i.e. every child for 10 years goes to school for free ... here you can already start laughing over loud, because it remained "free" only on a paper. Lets count: annual levies for school renovation, textbooks. Monthly fees for 'presents' for teachers burthdays, fees for teaching aids, office supplies, paper, paints, plasticine, additional excursions to museums, class cinema-goings, memorable photo albums, even a water in a cooler ... the list is limited only by the imagination of specific school authorities and the parents' degree of poverty / resistance.
In Russia this is a very sore point, I don’t know how it is going on in other countries ... I repeat: what we are talking about is an ordinary, basic, "free for all" school. There exist a site out there, where you can get some guidance on 'how to resist all this bullshit', address is: netpoboram.ru. And I should say it is very, very popula and well-known.
At the age of three my baby was not able to read the books, but she was already in the know of the magic effect that the phrase 'Papa read the book please!' - being said not in Russian, but in English! - makes on her Dad, i.e. me.
Learning what the music is.
The law allows education to be a household, family matter, while the rules are regulated according to which the child passes tests and exams every year, showing 100% completion of the curriculum. If it turns out that the parents do not provide education for the child, very harsh sanctions are possible, depending on the situation. Our child does not go to such a school, therefore, it is considered that he is taught at home. in fact, the child goes to a private commercial school, which is a surprise! - is formally considered an institution of "additional" education. In addition to our girl, there are 10 students in her class. The price of the issue is 15,000 rubles per month, excluding transportation costs ... and they are very high, because we do not own a car, we have to pay for municipal transport several times a day. This amounts to 240 rubles per day, i.e. 4000 rubles a month (haha, in one blow - half of the minimum subsistence level!)
In fact, I don't really want to talk about it, because it is a sad and very painful topic. No, we do not live, we survive. This is a very bad quality of life, always on the edge. Of course, many people live even worse ... but this is little consolation.
My story is not rubber, I managed to tell about one, so I cannot tell about another. I would like to tell how we took our child to a course of lectures on art at the Hermitage, how we taught her to draw and sculpture, how we participate in the All Colors of Childhood art festival. A separate immense topic is books, reading and our library. My wife works as an animator (draws cartoons), so it is not surprising that the child is interested in this topic. No, I cannot boast and show the cartoon we have made, this is a rather complicated matter - but we took part in a cooperative cartoon, and this is also a topic for a separate story.
There is such a poster in the lobby of our school. Very funny and cool! The inscription in Russian says: Children, respect your parents - when they were in school, at that time, Google did not exist!

If I were to convert 11,000 rubles in our currency it would be 6944 PHP, which make me think that your cost of living is less expensive than ours. I wish our cost of living is like in your country.
hope its not the TL;DR case.
read carefully. that is not true. the figures are fake. have you heard the saying: 'He lies lake the statistics does'?.. living here is expensive. the total of 11000 RU - well, you will not die having such income, but will live very very very badly life... and if the conditions are not ideal (like - you have no infantants, somebody have granted you a house to live in, you like to wear same dress for 12 years and not gonna buy anything new... you do not have car and do not plan to, etc) - you will not fit the said amount of 11000 RU. cheers!
Hello very interesting post I really like your photos especially the first one. It looks like you are having a lot of fun with your daughter at home.

oh!!!! really?... I think can do short 2-3-4 photos from one set / event with a minimum of text (not such a long-reads like this, which obviously result in to TL;DR).

Hmm, yes implementation of "free" education certainly varies from country to country. In the UK it was actually pretty close to it. School uniforms were the only real cost, but they were available in various shops at a fairly low cost. I suspect families who really couldn't afford it would have been provided with some second hand uniforms, because they genuinely tended to stick to the rule of free education. The only other costs the school requested was excursion fees, but they still had to take the children from families who'd signed the form, but not paid the fee.
In Australia there is a yearly fee for materials, school uniform (again obtainable at reasonable prices for pubic schools and lend outs from the office if you don't have one for any reason), but the thing that really got me was the pressure to get a laptop for the students, at the parents cost. You can usually place a deposit for one provided by the school, but it's usually hard to get it sorted, they don't wok well and the students are shamed and pressured to buy something if they take this route.
this is a nice bit
oh! got it, yes. we are far very from this stage of schooling (yet).
as for the form, you might be curious to know this, in the soviet epoch we had it, in 90-es this institution was cancelled, to good, or for wrong, who knows.
They are bringing the requirement for laptops in earlier and earlier here in Australia, especially in private schools. It used to just be high school.
this might be a fault decision.
It is very valuable to know the lifestyles adopted by all families around the planet. Good times as a family are worth a lot and it is well worth the effort to survive and laugh at the same time. You have a beautiful daughter. Your excellent photos, nothing less is expected. Cool.
