The Market Of The Future

Yesterday I shared a post about a very cool festival I visited on Saturday, that will remember for a long time. You can check out my post about it here. The festival was a unique one and so was the fair that was held in front of the venue.

I did not know there will be a fair as well, but was happy to see it, because as always, there's nothing I need, till I see something nice. So yeah, go prepared with deep pockets :)

When I saw there' a market, I thought it's the usual thing they are having regularly, but was surprised to see it was much more than that and by the time I finishes visiting the market, was more than thrilled.

For a few years now, the municipality is urging vendors to bring traditional, handmade products and only issuing permits to those who comply the rules. This is a a commendable measure as we're flooded with cheap plastic crap in every supermarket and shop, no need for more. This is the place for crafters, artisans to get more exposure and support. Many of them don't have a shop, they are traveling from one fair to another, so this is a huge help for them.

So I was saying above, you don't know you need one, till you see one and that's what happened to me. Seeing all this nice woodwork, I though these are not for me as wood is expensive, but then I saw these wall clocks and remembered I need one as my old one has decided to die on me. However, when I saw the prices, my legs started to move me away from the scene.

20220826_115756a.jpg

I mean I would give a 9 on a scale to 10 for originality to this one, would change the background to another color, but paying more than $100 for it is ... well, not worth it.

20220826_115803a.jpg

This is a clock featuring the map of Hungary, before the Treaty of Trianon, with a bird on top, which most likely is a Turul. It's a nice one, but almost $100 is not what I would pay for a clock.

Hello World! Here I am, representing Hive 😂 (maybe I should use this as my profile photo 😎)
Ok, jokes aside, when you see such a cutie at a fair, you know what is coming. Yeah, that's right, honey!!!

20220826_115835a.jpg

The variety they are offering is unbelievable. You can find many types you had no idea they exist. One day I'm going to buy a cure bear to remind me of my childhood, when we were eating honey out of those bear jars.

Instead of artificial leather, canvas! I should have had a closer look at these backpacks, stole the design and try to replicate one for myself. Well, now it's too late.

20220826_115920a.jpg

The coolest thing about this fair was eco friendly nature of it. As you could see so far, there was wood, honey, canvas and here there was a tent for kids to hide and hanged you can see some swings for babies and toddlers, made of wood, canvas and rope, just like this one on the left.

20220826_115941a.jpg

There were costumes as well, because life without a cool costume is boring.

20220826_115945a.jpg

Pick one. Who would you like to be today?

20220826_120006(0)a.jpg

If you look at this display, it's maybe the most beautiful, from design point of view. Colors are well chosen, nicely organized, yet I stopped to take a photo and went on my way. It's lavender, which is very famous and sought after, but unfortunately too strong for me. But I appreciate what they do. There were toys stuffed with lavender and pillow as they say it helps to sleep.

20220826_120022a.jpg

Delicacies of all kinds, most of them made with mushrooms. If we wouldn't have a garden and home grown veggies and fruits, I would buy these for sure. What is interesting is the pine syrup on the right, which is excellent against coughing. I had covid recently, but it was a very mild form and lucky me, there was no coughing, so I did not need any medication for that, but it's good to have one bottle at home for sure.

This is the next step in cosmetics, craft cosmetics, with eco friendly, skin friendly, natural ingredients. The only problem here is the price of the products. As much as I love them, I guess going totally in would drain my wallet pretty fast.

👀👀👀👀👀
So this was where I stepped on the brake and stopped. The truth is, I wanted to buy some jewellery but wherever I've been looking, they had nothing I liked. These were very cool, but not my style. There were the two black sets that maybe would have been nice, but decided not to buy any and it was a good decision, you'll see why, later.

20220826_120203a.jpg

What could I possibly say here? Cuteness at the highest level. Instead of plastic, I prefer these hand crocheted ones any day. Looks like those on the table are sold between 10 and 12 euro, which seems a lot when you have to pay and not a lot when you receive it 😁

20220826_120239a.jpg

Say cheeeeeese! Yes, cheese! There's not fare without artisan cheese! I was looking for these and kind of was afraid to find them as I knew what is awaiting for me. Europe is famous for its cheese. There are countries famous for their cheese and the variety you can find is absolutely mind blowing. I love cheese and love these craft cheese, but I also know if you want something special, you need to pay the price.

20220826_120334a.jpg

These are everything but usual. Each of them has a strange but very interesting ingredient added. So I had a look at the offer and not the price. The man behind the counter was there right away, offering me a great variety of cheese, explaining which is which and why it is good. I knew I'm not going to walk away empty handed, but had to decide which one to buy. They had chilly cheese, cumin, herbs and so on. After looking around, I decided to go with the cumin as that seemed the most appealing.

20220828_203359a.jpg

The man then anted to give me a small piece, to taste it. I said thank you, but I want to buys it. He insisted I taste it as he said he's better want me to leave satisfied with the product. You don't get this kind of nice treatment everywhere these days though. So I bought this piece, which costed me $4 and it's just a little piece, but it's heavenly good.

The truth is, we're far from France or the Netherlands as cheese is concerned, but there is a lot of development in this regard and you can buy a great variety already.

20220826_122003(0)a.jpg

Let's finish with something sweet and what else could it be, if not craft chocolate. I have always loved these and are extremely good as well, but if you look at the price, you think twice or three times before you decide to buy a small piece. There were more than 10 types here, one better than the other, but I decided to walk away empty handed as eating sweets is not on the menu these days. I used to make chocolate at home, maybe I should resume this activity as now you can buy any ingredient you need.

Even though this is just a part of the market (I'm going to post the rest at a later date), it's clear that the effort of bringing something unique, interesting and healthy for both people and the environment was not in vain. Crafters know where they are heading and this is the right direction.

So what would you choose from here?

So many cool pieces here but I like the wooden clock the most (just like you I guess). It looks really amazing. And the price tag isn´t that surprising to me actually, craft products are very expensive these days... Anyway, fun event, thanks for taking us there with you :)

You're right, craft products are not cheap, but if you buy one, buy a nice one at least. I suppose craft products are expensive everywhere.

I bought a clock, but not one of these. I'm going to show you next time 🙂

I believe this is very well visited market. The wooden handcraft look really beautiful, I like the little figures carved out of wood. Only someone who loves wood can create such beauty. Also my favourite is leather, maybe both of them are natural but also usually last longer . So many different types of cheese, yummy!

I love wood a lot and know it's not easy to bring out the best from a piece of wood. I'm going to have some nice leather products in my upcoming post.

Wow these are such a beautiful sight to be, the market has a lot of varieties of items to captivate our attention and as well choose from.

I more attracted to the amigurumi, dolls and yummy looking cheese.

The jewelry accessories are another lovely aspect I'm engross to here.

Thanks for gracing our sight with these lovelies and I'll also need to go through some of these tips meant for newbies, as I felt I still have alot to learn about the blockchain.

Have a productive week ahead.

The cheese if it's ethically produced

These are all entrepreneurs, and not the kind that is unemployed and uses the word to look smart. These are all certified companies, artisans, crafters with licenses.

And I agree with you, this is the future, we need to promote this and spread the word.

The way forward seems to be a few steps backwards... to simpler, more honest and less is more things.

Yes. We spread the word and make simplicity look sexy again! 😊

Because ethics, values and caring IS sexy. The end. ❤️
