Writing Music Challenge: Cal - Mark Knopfler

It says that 2 Carinthians are enough for a choir, but I'm half Tyrolean, so I have absolutely no idea of music nor can I sing 😂

@detlev challenged me to take part in the Writing Music Challenge: Writing Music Challenge: Grobschnitt.

I like to listen to music, although I really do not have any special preferences. Usually it is only background music, but sometimes I have to put my earphones in and listen to music that suits to my mood, which is sometimes angry 😠 and sometimes sad or melancholic 😥 when I need my earphones. That can be Rammstein or Lindsay Sterling as well as Elvis Presley or The Who, but never ever I listen to Austrian Country Music 😉

But today I want to share one of my favorite Music Albums for situations when I just want to relax and sail away with my thoughts after a long working day. It is Music by Mark Knopfler from the film Cal which came out in 1984 when I was 19, a few months after I left the army after 8 months of military service.
By this time I moved in my first own tiny apartment in a town rather far away from home and I felt much alone because I knew nobody there. Such music helped me a lot till the times got better a while later ;)

There's no hidden gem in this album, because the songs are all gems for me, but if you'd ask me which song I like best I'd say "Father and Son". I still get goosebumps from the song like the first time I heard it.

Well, that was it - a quite unusual post for me, but at least I could take photos of the CD version of the album and play a bi twith them in PhotoShop ;)

I dont thiink I have ever heard that album, but will dig out my headphones and listen to it now as I edit some photos

I to cannot sing at all, and really listen to music more as background than anything else so we are similar in that regards

I love such music when I'm in the right mood - there's not much modern music nowadays which I really like. So I prefer the "oldies" and sometimes I even sing in the shower when I'm alone and the windows are closed, that nobody on the street can hear me 🤣 lol

I listen to what is now the golden oldies channel make some feel old, but very few of modern music do I really consider as music sound more like annoying noise to me lOL

See I am worse I do not even sing in the shower or an empty house lOL

Congrats Hannes in picking up the gauntlet and posting some of the music you enjoy.

Music is another thing I would like to know more about. I only know if I like it or not.

I listened to the first album and liked the sweet sad sound but also uplifting. It reminded me of the hymn ‘Amazing Grace.” I’ll listen to the other songs later.

Hi Jo,

I was challenged, otherwise I wouldn't have had the idea of making a post about music. I'm the same as you, I either like it or I don't 😉
As mentioned in the post I like almost every kind of music when I'm in the right mood, even the guttural singing of the Mongols sounds nice 😉

The rain finally eased up and the sun is showing his face the morning.

Thanks for kind remark on the curation post. I was thinking you might post a botanical themed post into Amazing Nature Community. 😉.

It is still raining here and I don't think it will stop today, but I hope the weekend will be nice and autumnal 😁

I love this kind of music and especially this album is one of my favourite 🙂

Our Austrian folk music (Volksmusik) is not what I like to hear, I never did - it's just not my music 😂 lol

Yeah, the Ecency desktop app and also the phone app don't work for me at all, but now I am using Ecency.com, which seems to work fine 😀

Yeah, the phone app doesn't work for me at all - I stick with the online version ecency.com which seems to work fine. Have a wonderful Sunday my friend 😊🔆
