Season Hunt: Mushrooms Galore

avatar

My entry to @barbara-orenya’s #seasonhunt challenge.

Theme for this week Mushrooms.

I didn’t have to go far to find mushrooms.

From the kitchen window I could see this pretty mushroom growing under the shadow of the spruce tree standing in the back yard.

It is the Amanita Muscarin commonly know as the Fly Mushroom.

I’ve read that mushrooms with a red top are either poisonous or hallucinogenic. It looks like the animals have taken a few nibbles out of this one. I’ll leave the party to them.

There’s many different mushrooms around the yard especially popping up after a rain. Lots of bites taken out of them.

Conk growing on tree.

Seeing mushrooms growing on a tree indicates the tree is suffering damage and a fungus has already affected it.

Conks are great fire starters. Good to know if you get lost in the forest and need warmth.

These conk mushrooms are touted to have medicinal healing properties and a tea can be made with them.

I’ll close off with the interesting looking Ink Cap mushroom. Called such because they turn black quickly after being picked.

All kinds of mushrooms to select from but I don’t really know my mushrooms good enough to risk picking them and frying them up for a meal.

I am content seeing the many varieties of fungi and know the insects and animals make use of them.

Location: Prince Edward Island, Canada

I had to search for a few hours this morning, but I have found a few mushrooms in the end, some similar to yours 😁

The "Family of mushrooms" looks great and it is my favourite photo - mum, dad and the two kids ... cool 😍

Wishing you a great weekend, dear Jo 🌞🤗

Hahaha, I went on a nice walk and they were also right under my nose, but I didn't see them until I saw the first one. Then I suddenly saw mushrooms everywhere 😀
Many didn't look very good anymore, so I have photographed only the to me best looking ones ... and the easiest to get to 😉

We have set the clocks back one hour already last weekend.

It's cold here but seems to become a sunny day.
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday, dear Jo 🤗🌞

Great hunt this week @redheadpei. And you didn't have to go far to capture these trophies. Interesting assortment of species but what caught my eye was the conk. I didn't realize that a dying tree or even a dead one can induce its growth. You gave me a great idea for this hunt. Thanks! Best of luck on the draw.

Great variety of mushrooms at your doorstep.
I don't know much about the mushrooms and I would never dare to pick up. I did not know about the red top, but I haven't seen any with red top around here. I am still hunting for my post.
Good luck!

You have a very nice assortment of mushrooms Jo!! I seldom find the red ones like in your first couple of photos but when I do it makes it more exciting. It is funny to see the one with the bite taken out of it. I see that a lot and it makes me wonder if the animal took a bite and didn't like it enough to take another..lol. Have a wonderful Sunday!! 😊💕

Thanks Dee.💕 I don’t know what the animals are thinking but after awhile the whole mushroom disappears. I think the squirrel freeze dries them for winter storage. :))

Have a wonderful Sunday!🌞
