Both porches are ready to use now, with plenty of curing time.

Both porches had suffered under normal wear and tear over the last 7 years. Now they are renewed and ready to rent!

New epoxy coated front porch:

It has cured for 5 days now, so now it's solid; and ready to use.

This is what we started with:

Scraping off everything that is loose is the first step. Then it must be carefully cleaned, several times; the last is hot clean water.

The back porch need help too:

This damage is from moving the washer and dryer around.

Now it looks a lot better:

After the cleaning is done, the concrete should be etched so the epoxy will adhere. I used muriatic acid, use gloves, eye protection, and a mask (something a mask actually helps with) because this acid is nasty! Ventilation is necessary, we got lucky with a nice breeze. A good fan is a nice backup for still air days.

After it etches about 15 minutes (more time needed for older or real smooth concrete), rinse it twice with fresh water changes and let it dry completely. We let it dry overnight.

Then read your epoxy paint directions!!!!

Mix and apply, and paint yourself out of the house. Then leave it alone to cure, it doesn't need you testing it to dry properly!

If you situation won't allow a total shutdown, paint half and walk on the other side. When it is cured, paint the other side, and walk on the new paint; while the second side cures.

It takes a little longer, but it's worth the effort!

Thanks, it looked better before I scraped it so hard, but the loose stuff had to go! All better now.
