Cycling Vietnam - Hang Pagoda to Rach Gia
Cycling Vietnam - Hang Pagoda to Rach Gia. Keep it moving! Well no one is moving much now so I'll take you back a few years continuing on from my last post Cambodia to Vietnam. Today we'll go from the beautiful temple in the cave on the shore, Hang Pagoda, to a small city in the delta named Rach Gia. Rach Gia has a population of around 400,000 and is the capital of the province. I met a very nice local young woman at the temple who was kind enough to take me around on her motorcycle after showing me a local hotel. She showed the beautiful waterfront with so many restaurants and night life spots for locals. I could recommend this city for living as the air is clean and not so congested like the other cities in Vietnam.
Crossing the river on the way. The delta is full of small rivers and waterways.
This is a wedding party. I heard them blasting music and stopped to have a look. The girls were yelling at me to come down to the party. They were going to a restaurant on the river... Just think if I went, I could be married living in the Delta now haha.
I stopped for a sugar cane juice and this friendly girl came out and practiced English with me. The entire family came and met me. That's her Grandmother on the left.
The same tricycle set up as in Kampot.
The beginning of many sightings. These electric bicycles are everywhere in Vietnam. They are quite fast as well and silent so you don't hear them coming...
The first Vietnamese fresh market. I would compare it on a similar level to a Thai market. For sure a step up from a Cambodian market as far as cleanliness and organization.
Fried tofu in the market. I'm just happy to see tofu again ;)
The outside of the market. Vietnam truly is chaotic with the number of motorbikes zooming about in every which direction.
I found the Vietnamese in the south very friendly and kind. Gentle and relaxed similar to Khmer, Thai, Lao people... He's a tri-shaw driver.
Coffee fuels Vietnam. This cafe was really nice as on the street next to my hotel and met a friendly man who had lived in USA. His English was great and he insisted on buying me coffee and breakfast!
I came across another Khmer Buddhist temple. I found the Khmer temples in Vietnam very beautiful and with many people about.
The designs are very authentic and unique.
A new stupa or chedi.
They also house and build racing boats in the temple. I assume they have a boat festival. This looks like a fast one...
A Khmer temple with Vietnamese writing. I can read it but not understand what it says. Well its a start at least hehe.
Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed. See you next time!

You're welcome @chrisinphuket👍🙂
It seems like an awesome spot for holidays but I doubt I'd adapt living there. Too many people... a weird looking alphabet and I seriously doubt there are many Death Metal and Metalcore concerts going on! It's just not the place for me. 😂
Hmm there may be an underground scene... Who knows? Yeah Vietnam is crowded especially in the cities. Wasn't my place either but I tried it for 3 months :) Very beautiful nature though!
