Imagine living with constant pain, frequent hospital admissions, and uncertainty about tomorrow...
Not because there was no cure, but because prevention was ignored.
That! Is the reality of Sickle Cell Anemia (SCA).
The Cost of Sickle Cell Anemia;
SCA places a heavy burden on the individual, families and the healthcare system, including:
Huge amounts of money for drugs and blood transfusions.
Repeated hospital visits and admissions
Emotional and financial strain on the family
Complication with other aspects of the individual's health
Prevention is The Key;
The most effective way to fight SCA is prevention through informed decisions:
- Know your genotype
- Know your partner's genotype
- Don't marry if you are not compatible
- If you marry (the love is too strong) ensure not to procreate
Love is powerful, but knowledge protects generations.
A reminder of genotypes that can safely give birth together and those that cannot
Sickle Cell Disease causes avoidable pain.
Knowing your genotype is not optional, it is responsible living.
Test early before the love eats deep
Talk openly.
Protect future generations.

Very valuable update from the City's Clinic, Sickle Cell Anemia is preventable but I guess alot of people are just ignorant or careless. So information like this would go a long way to help someone out there make better decisions.
