Morning Run - Hit a century

I just finished a 6.952km running that lasted about 0hh:38mm:11ss !

Today was a little drier than Tuesday, but I still stayed away from the mud. I went back to Fairfield to give my legs a workout on the hill. This time I opted to do a full loop of the estate and went the opposite direction to normal. We do tend to get into habits and it can be nice to mix it up a bit. Strava says I did my second best time on the way up West Drive. I did push a bit up there, but was not really going for it all the way.

I had a little cycle ride yesterday to do some shopping. That was the first time I have been on the bike in a while and it felt good, but I need to work on whatever different muscles I use when cycling.

I saw a few other runners around this morning, including one guy I overtook. Chasing him helped me get some reasonable lap times. I rate anything under 5:30/km as quick and I was dead on that for average pace today. Of course I go quicker down the hills, but I had to do the equivalent climbs too.

Coming down the hill again felt good and I got some extra speed there, but was not going flat out. The run back along the High Street is pretty much flat and I just tried to maintain my pace.

Not a bad run overall. I will try to get back to some proper intervals next week. This run takes me up to 100 hours for the year with three months to go. I should hit around 1400km, which will be my best by far.

Run free and stay well.

You have uploaded 199 running activities, and 75 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 75 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 520.88 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:49 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.492min/km!
Looks like you went a bit faster than usual this time! Nice work!

Nice one on the 100 hours for the year. Not sure how much time I've spent on the 2020km challenge but it's more than I've ever done by a long way!

I like running when there's another runner to chase down, gives you a target and takes your mind off running itself!

Cheers. You must have spent a lot of time on your challenge. I see all your walks on Strava. I'm happy with any improvement as I have to accept I am getting on. I still think I have it in me to be quicker.

Haha I dread to think how much time I've spent this year on the challenge! My legs and hips are telling me it's "lots" and oh, don't you know, my hips don't lie 😁

Keep pushing mate, as long as your diet and resting programme is going well, you can get fitter and faster if you believe in it. I'd love one day to do a full marathon below 4 hours, I have one last throw of the dice on that I think, don't want to totally wreck myself before I'm 40!

I do aspire to do a marathon. I can manage a half, but it's a big step up to double that. Then I see the older folk doing it and think it must be possible.

Yeah I can tell you marathons are no joke. The first 20 miles you will be ok but that final 6.2... Jeeez! You need a strong mind, feed off the crowd and a lot of jelly babies and/or nuts! Keeping yourself hydrated but not so much you need the toilet as that will eat your time away (if you're going for a time). My best is 4h 15m in Amsterdam but hope to get into London once the UK is out of the shit with covid!

Nice job! My wife decided to do some weights with me this morning. She also road a bike for the first time in a long time this past weekend. I have a feeling now she is going to want me to get our bikes out and tuned up for next summer!

I haven't cycled as much as I had hoped to this year. I will consider doing some rides to replace some runs.
