World Famous Zillmere parkrun

Zillmere on the north side of Brisbane is the only parkrun in the world starting with the letter Z. We have done this course before back in 2019 and it is where I first met @consciouscat when we were both collecting our Z in the unofficial alphabet parkrun challenge.

We were visiting again to help a workmate celebrate his 150th parkrun. This parkrun is often over run with tourists and again this morning there were more visitors than locals.

The course is all grass in the O'Callaghan Parklands. The Scottish kilt was to help celebrate Bob's achievement. (Bob is Scottish!)

The course is dotted with some carvings of Australia animals. There are supposed to be 8 all up, but I only found 3.

A personal best for me on this course today but last time I remember it was very hot and a New Year Day double (an old special event where we used to run 2 parkruns on the same day) and I was in the middle of Iron Man triathlon training. But either way I will take the PB.

So that's my 342nd parkrun done. It was my 2nd at Zillmere and I came 5th overall out of 41 people and 1st in my age group. (Screenshot of my workout on Strava).

After the run I did a cool down walk to go and find Conscious Cat and get a few photos. This one of us (below) was taken by my mate Bob.
