Another new parkrun! And we had sunshine!

Guess who was 2nd female and 7th overall to cross the line on a multi lap, cross country course? Yes, yes, yours truly :) Woooooo! Now, is this the part where I tell you there were only 63 runners at Highfields parkrun today and Brad still beat me?! (He usually does :P)

But jokes aside, I ran well. A course like this plays to my strengths as I'm good at cruising up the hills, taking advantage of the flats, and going fast down the hills. I also have strong ankles and knees and all the rest, so I can handle all the uneven surfaces well. We were at a disadvantage going to a brand new course we'd never done before, but then I have to remember that parkrun is free, weekly, timed community event; it's not a race. No matter much Brad and I sometimes like to race it :P

This was on lap 1 where it was still cool enough for me to wear a (parkrun volly) t-shirt, as I ran uphill. As I started lap 2 I ditched the t-shirt at the briefing area in preference for my sports bra that I'd picked specifically expecting I'd need to run in it. I did! It got hot, quick!

Near the briefing area is a kids playground. The older I get the more I choose to be a kid so I was climbing all over the equipment before the run started. And... bouncing on the trampoline afterwards!

While my Garmin must have dropped out with all the tree cover on one section of the three laps, every parkrun course is always, always 5km. And my official time was 26:06, which, given how challenging the course was, I'm very happy with. And there's no way I was going to catch the woman ahead of me; she was a full 90 seconds faster and I was running a pretty strong and pretty determined pace, pretty much the entire way.

How about you? Do you have parkrun in your country normally but it's on hold? Or do you have it there but choose not to attend? Are you in one of the 180 ish countries that does not have parkrun (but wish it did)? Or are you very lucky like me and you ran parkrun this morning? If so, where did you go??

I just finished a 5.0km running that lasted about 0hh:26mm:6ss !

Congratulations @consciouscat! 2nd Female to cross the finish line out of 63 players! Damn! I want to be as athletic as you are! And totally agree on keeping it young!

Why thank you Ms @indayclara.

Humbly accepts Clara's kind words

You're doing as much exercise/movement as you can, right? 😉
And you're going to do more when you can, right? 😀

Is that good enough for now?

If you imagine this:

Here's to a future where you can be really athletic too (or again? I feel like your pre-Odette normal had a lot of exercise in it with your love of sweating and freediving?)

Yes! Everything have settled here in my place and I've gotten around my routine and other distractions are out of the picture now. So no I got time and I'm dragging my damn lazy ass on a run tomorrow! I realized that its the discipline that I'm lacking. I'm jealous of my sister who lost 9lbs in 2 weeks by just changing her food. But I would want my motivation to be "get stronger" and not "lose weight".

This week I'm going to focus on discipline and commitment in terms of my diet and exercise.

I'm glad things are settled there. I hope you enjoy your run 🏃‍♀️
I somehow doubt you're lazy, my dear 🙃
I personally find that discipline often eludes me but if I can understand why I want to do something then I get much further.

Why do you want to get stronger?
How will that make you feel?

oh, Caroline I just love your energy and zest for life ❣️Great effort, well done. That's an epic result 😊 I have done a couple of parkruns at our local country park. I used to love cross country in my teens but I spent so much of my life running track, road, and cross country and time trials that I just one day had had enough...I have ventured out on occasion when I've needed to clear my head and always enjoyed it. I have to be slightly more careful now as I have osteoporosis although I'm on meds and doing a programme of exercises to build strength. I enjoy seeing the enthusiasm and can relate to your joy. Keep it up...all that coverage of new park-run sites is inspiring. !PIZZA

Oh, I'm glad it is really inspiring Sam 🙏 Thanks for your kind words !LUV 🤩

Yeah, I reckon the good thing about parkrun is you can use it the way it works for you. So you can run every week like we do 🏃‍♀️ or just go on the very rare occasion you feel like it 😊

Building strength sounds like a very, very good idea 🏋️ Meanwhile, thanks for the pizza! 🍕
