Hi @reeta0119

It is certainly a new modality for many people and I include myself.

However, what many people don't know is that somehow by using masks we are also causing damage at a general level and this is because when we exhale our Co2 we inhale it again in small quantities and that is what is harmful because that Co2 goes directly into the bloodstream.

I definitely agree this a new modern way of life.

I don't think is necessarily considered damage having elevated CO2 in our bloodstream through inhalation. Oxygen has a higher binding affinity with heamoglobin than CO2 so if you inhale both then the oxygen would theoretically saturate the red blood cells more readily than CO2. What I have noticed, as I have a mild breathing condition is that due to the increased levels of CO2 being inhaled I get out of breath more quickly and frequently using a mask.

Given that most of our aeobic metabolic processes require oxygen and produce CO2 it could well be that the increased levels of CO2 inhaled are affecting these processes by making them less efficient, leading to fatigue more easily. It would be quite an interesting study, though I'm sure someone somewhere has already done one before.

Hi @lanzjoseg
this is the requirement as of now to stay safe but as you said that is also causing problems is correct. Even when I wear the mark for 8-9 hrs continuously then I feel uneasy in breathing. I take a break for some time. Even I don't use masks at home but it's a must for outside else I may get penalized by the police. Thanks a lot.
