Seguramente han escuchado que los ojos son el reflejo del alma y en fotografía esta frase también es una máxima si queremos retratar a algo que posee vida.

Al captar los ojos, nuestra subjetividad se sumerge en interpretar o imaginar qué sentimiento posee esa mirada. Claro que tratándose de animales o insectos, ese trabajo se vuelve más errático.

¿Se imaginan cómo ve el mundo una mariposa? El ejercicio de la creatividad nos permite sumergirnos en una perspectiva única cada vez y te lo demostraré en estas tres fotos.

Surely you have heard that the eyes are the reflection of the soul and in photography this phrase is also a maxim if we want to portray something that possesses life.

By capturing the eyes, our subjectivity is immersed in interpreting or imagining what feeling that gaze possesses. Of course, in the case of animals or insects, this work becomes more erratic.

Can you imagine how a butterfly sees the world? The exercise of creativity allows us to immerse ourselves in a unique perspective each time and I will show you in these three photos.

En la primera, la imagen de sus ojos es algo lejana y un poco confusa. Todo se debe a que el enfoque de la cámara -en este caso mi celular- no consiguió su punto dulce.

A pesar de esa distancia y de que el enfoque no es el mejor, podemos identificar sus ojos negros, desviando nuestra mirada primeramente a lo diferente de la mariposa: la línea amarilla en sus alas.

In the first one, the image of his eyes is somewhat distant and a little confusing. It's all because the focus of the camera - in this case my cell phone - didn't get its sweet point.

Despite this distance and the fact that the focus is not the best, we can identify its black eyes, diverting our gaze first to what is different from the butterfly: the yellow line on its wings.

En esta segunda, el enfoque cayó nuevamente en la línea amarilla. No podemos acusar al insecto por la luz que había cuando lo avistamos, por nuestro balance para ser precisos, ni por las limitaciones de nuestro equipo.

Vemos que los ojos, por la disposición de la foto que hemos adoptado, no nos dicen nada. Están difuminado y no son protagonistas. Simplemente, no hemos logrado capturarle el alma al modelo.

In this second, the focus fell back on the yellow line. We cannot accuse the insect because of the light when we spotted it, because of our balance to be precise, neither because of the limitations of our equipment.

We see that the eyes, by the disposition of the photo we have adopted, do not tell us anything. They are blurred and not the protagonists. We simply haven't managed to capture the model's soul.

¡Lo logré! Finalmente la suerte, la luz y las habilidades se combinaron para detallar a fondo los ojos nuestro invitado.

Acá sí vemos su alma y el ejercicio de interpretar qué pensaba o lo que sentía ese cazador de polen se nos hace más sencillo que en los ejemplos anteriores y es porque vemos detalladamente su mirada, su rostro y otras características que nos hacen el trabajo más sencillo.

Hay mucha subjetividad en el arte de lo fotografía y además está nuestra intecionalidad al captar una imagen. Apreciar un talento no es sencillo, pero algo sí tengo claro: los detalles en los ojos siempre nos fascinarán.

There is a lot of subjectivity in the art of photography and there is also our inteality in capturing an image. Appreciating a talent is not easy, but one thing is clear: the details in the eyes will always fascinate us.
