No Power For Three Days

(Edited)

There was some heavy winds here this past few days and it knocked down an array of power-lines/trees. In my area it was just a few trees leaning against power-lines and mild debris on the roads. In other areas (I'm Told) power lines fell down in domino like fashion. There was also some heavy rain. My house is a tank so no flooding or damage here but I bet some others aren't as lucky. The below picture is from a google search (not in my area). I don't have any pictures to share because I didn't venture out too far. Not because I didn't want to but because driving on the road while trees are leaning against the power lines isn't the brightest of ideas. Although I did go for a small drive to see the condition of the surrounding area as described above (Short 2 min. drive).

I have my own well water that runs on a pump. And as I'm sure you know that means I need power to have running water. Having no running water for 2+ days was the biggest downer for me. However we have a water dispenser and we stocked up on cases of water just a day before our power clunked out so we had/have plenty of drinking water to spare. We had lots of lights ready to go as we have solar panel lights outside and just brought them in when it got dark. Add that with the candles we had and lighten was not an issue. I'm not going to lie, I rather liked the complete shut off from everything the world has to offer. No type of electronics for three days. Just you, the people around you and whatever your imaginations can cook up. I got a chance to use my new Propane BBQ that been sitting in its packaging since the day I bought it some weeks back. BBQ sausages and BBQ Stake never tasted so good.

Following that we will dig into the world of PSYBERX. I should note that the Youtube videos shared are not of the storm in my area. I wish I had the foresight to record the heavy rain but sadly I did not (something I will have to remember for next time).

Wow I hope the damage isn't that much because I know a lot of people would be affected by it.

Mostly just downed powerlines. There is some damage but nothing that I would consider worrying. I'm sure I'll hear more in the upcoming days as not all areas have their power back.

It was a crazy storm for sure! But nothing that we are not used to! Glad the power is back on that way!

Storms are never really "bad" here but this one managed to knock the power out for days and that doesn't happen often.

Welcome to my simplified life dear brother.😁 Well, kinda. Weve had some pretty bad storms here, and so far weve not lost power from our solar array yet. But having zero phones/internet really is a beautiful thing. My son and I spend a lot of quality time together because of it. I do wish you all the best. And if there's anything I can help with please let me know.(sorry for the lae reply, hopefully things have improved.🤞) We send our love brother!🤗🤗🤗

Hi @johndoer123, I hope things are going good for you. I have to admit, I did enjoy the days without power. The BBQ came in handy as did our fire pit for boiling water we got from a near by river. As you pointed out, with less distractions (internet, tablets, T.V. ect.) there is plenty of time for family time and other much more interesting and fulling things. Solar power is something I have always been interested in and I plan on tinkering with it in the upcoming months.
