Lockdown has affected the life of many people. Don’t know how many companies have suffered losses and how many people have lost their job. I saw many auto drivers started selling green vegetables. Only two businesses were doing well during the lockdown - vegetable market and grocery stores. Apart from these, all the business houses were closed.

According to an article, Naturals Ice Cream, A Mumbai-based firm, has suffered a financial loss of around twenty million during lockdown. Twenty million are not a small thing. I wish I would have twenty million. I would have invested one million in hive.  The company told that 26 tonnes of ice cream was ready to deliver to different stores across India. But unfortunately  Mumbai government imposed lockdown on March 20 which stopped the delivery of the ice cream. 26 tonnes of ice cream was packed in 45000 small boxes. Unfortunately  those ice cream boxes remained in the factory.

Free ice cream distribution among poor

Ice cream is a dairy product. But Naturals Ice Cream firm had produced the best quality ice cream by adding fruit juice to it. I have never got fruit smell from ice cream. However, I have left the consumption of ice cream several years ago because of breathing problem. It was necessary to consume the entire ice cream within 15 days because of fruit juice. The company had no idea that the Mumbai government would put a lock down on March 20. They got into more trouble when the Indian government imposed a lock-down across India for the entire twenty one days. In such a situation, the company was not able to deliver ice cream to every store.

The company then decided to distribute the entire ice cream boxes free of cost to  poor. But the firm required permission from BMC and Police Administration.  They had sent an application for permission. Unfortunately  the permission was not granted, as ice cream don’t come under essential thing.

The idea of free distribution of ice cream also came to a halt. But I am not able to understand why they didn't try to distribute the ice cream into those people who were living near the factory. I think they didn't need to hire any vehicle to carry those ice cream boxes. Their employees could do it themselves. Then the company was not able to understand what to do with 26 tonnes of ice cream. The consumption of ice cream was not possible after 15 days. Free distribution was also not possible due to lockdown. The only way left with the company was to throw away the entire ice cream. But it was also difficult to throw away 26 tonnes of ice cream into the drain. At last, Naturals contacted Sanjivani S3 firm to dispose of the entire ice cream. Sanjeevini is a Mumbai based company which has rare weight disposal plant. It converted  the entire ice cream into biogas. Thus, Natural Ice Cream firm suffered a loss of around twenty million
