Support Proposal #202: Hostile Takeover Documentary

Don't think about it: just do it.

Do it!

I can't recall ever promoting any proposal on Hive... ever.
First time for everything I guess.

70k HBD is a small price to pay

Hell, look at my account. I could technically pay for it myself out of pocket. Of course, I'd never do that, because I have nothing to gain by creating such a documentary. That's exactly why the decentralized Hive fund exists in the first place: so we can throw money at projects that benefit the entire ecosystem, but not necessarily the people we hire to create the thing. Hive needs to show more strength in this arena.

How many other communities have a story to tell?

We already had big players like Vitalik commenting on how big of a deal this hostile takeover and subsequent fork of the chain was. There are a lot of maximalists in crypto. There are a lot of tribalists. We will not be taken seriously until we step up to the plate and show the world what we got.

Truly, 70k HBD out of the dev fund is not a big risk. What is the worst that can happen? It doesn't get made? Plenty of the stuff the Hive fund pays for doesn't get made or live up to expectations. That's the beauty of the Hive fund; it's like a venture capital fund. 10% of the projects can provide 99% of the value. We can fail 90% of the time and still come out of it smelling like roses.

Besides, even John McAfee had his own documentary!

gringodocumentaryjohnmcafee.jpg

And just look how well that worked out!

Joking aside, the return proposal currently stands at 29,064,310 HP
The documentary proposal sits at 28,956,366 HP.

  • It only needs 108,044 more HP to get funded.
  • It's going to get funded.
  • Maybe you go down in history books as the account that made it happen :D
  • Do it!

Important notes from the proposal:

This will not be a Hive "shill" piece with the sole goal of making the Hive community feel good.

This will not be a revenge piece.

We will not be portraying Binance and Huobi as being complicit to the Steem takeover.

  • No burnt bridges
  • No technicalities
  • Attempts to appeal to a wider audience.
  • Portray the philosophical struggle of community vs perceived threat.

Conclusion

It's just too good of an opportunity to pass up. All I gotta do is click a button and a documentary gets made for me? How crazy is that? If this thing actually gets produced there is no way it's worth less than the cost to make it. Guaranteed.

Click the damn button!

There's no way to make him look good.
Any exposure makes him look bad.
But yeah it would be fun if we just railed him.
Maybe if this works me make a whole documentary just about Justin Sun.
Honestly that documentary would be fucking insane.
Only like 5% would be Hive.

Your posts works :) last votes coming in.

IMO something that can be in the worst-case something cool we have then. I mean it's professional documentation for a cheap price.

It would be only a waste if it turns out the most boring shit ever. But I don't think @lordbutterfly wants to hear that forever "did you make the most boring documentary ever, woah", so it should be something okaisch at a minimum :)

I already voted for it when they tagged me. It's nice to see that it has enough to pass the return proposal so I think it will be fine.

Done!
Interesting proposal this was the first I've heard of it but I couldn't say no to something like this. I love crypto documentaries, we have a great story, and I think it would be really good for Hive overall.

I actually wish we were pumping enough money into it to hire the best famous producers in the industry.

We really have a story worth saying! Probably the proposal is already voted, but I'll go and vote it too.

Supported good luck and can't wait to see the post on this or how this story developed. I'm still really new to hive and just only recently read the story of steem's fork to hive. I'm curious to see how the movie/shortfilm would portray the events that transpired.

Also I think historical documentary can help bring awareness or create virality. Also a GREAT log with the trajectory of where hive is moving towards.

This is one of my shortest posts in months and your comment reads like:

TLDR I read the title and knee-jerk reacted.

Literally a good idea even though you said it sarcastically.
The network can't lose money on average making bets like this.
