STOP PRESS: SATURDAY SAVERS HAVE YOU CLAIMED YOUR MARCH LARYNX AIRDROP? DEADLINE 31 MARCH 2022. HOW TO CLAIM YOUR AIRDROP.

Hello Everyone,

It's been a lovely mild week here in the Middle Lands of England, full of sunshine and Spring flowers. My potatoes are just about ready for planting and time to get some seeds in. Last weekend we spread home-made compost and organic soil improver on the vegetable beds, ready for the first plantings. This year, I'm aiming for everything to be in the ground, except potatoes which will be in pots for easy harvesting.

March No-Buy Month

That's Week Four of the No-Buy Month gone - a quiet week for me as I continue to use up staples from the pantry. I met a woman who uses Leicester Market (Leicester has the distinction of holding one of the oldest Market Charters in England) for her fresh produce purchases. She buys and freezes fresh fruit and vegetables every week, especially soft fruit, which can be very expensive.

Do you have any tips for making savings on buying food? Tell us in the comments below.

Here's the background to my no-buy plans, and here's @justclickindiva's latest progress report.

SPI changes to HIVE Dividends!

Last week saw the Fund start paying dividends in Hive, which was exciting. SPI is a growth token - everything that is invested is pooled and used to grow the SPI fund. The token started as a $13,000 fund: last week's SPI report shows a fund value of around $280,000 as it comes to the close of the third year.

Mostly sold for 1 HIVE, each token today is worth over 4 times its HIVE issue value and 12x its dollar value.

SPI has also started paying content creators (5 SPI per post, approximately $15) and account managers (10 SPI each week plus 20% of account growth). If you are looking to grow your SPI holdings, this could be a great way to do it. Contact @silverstackeruk (@silverstackeruk#3236 on discord), if you are interested.

SPI is a managed account and if you've seen any of the excitement about Leofinance's release of PolyCUB, you don't need to suffer from FOMO - SPI is managing the fund to ensure SPI holders benefit from PolyCUB activities.

Building your EDS Stack - Automating EDSM purchases

EDS is a lovely income token, it's currently paying 22.5% return in HIVE and, at the moment, that return is rising and will for a couple of years. If you are looking to build your HIVE account, this is a good token for you. Another way to grow your EDS stack is to buy some EDS miners (EDSM) and mint your own EDS tokens.

This post explains how to automate your EDSM purchases.

If you are going to do this, I recommend aiming to buy 10% of an EDSM each week - that is 1 HIVE per week. In ten weeks, you will own a whole EDSM. If you want to buy more and grow your income more quickly, increase your weekly purchase to 2 or more HIVE each week. Check your weekly earnings using Hive Stats and see what you can afford. EDSMs are issued from @eds-holdings once a week on Mondays.

I recall you put forth a post in the past of the potential growth in yield for the EDS program. Perhaps it would be good to revisit that with a revised schedule.

If my memory is correct, it can get close to 50% APR (but dont quote me on that).

Hello. How nice to get your planting ready. Hope your garden is successful. Here's my progress report for Saturday Savers Club, Week 13:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/week-13-upcoming-end-of-1st-qtr-and-checking-on-my-automated-crypto-purchases-or-2022-saturday-savers-club

My March No-Buy Month is going good. I've racked up a few expenses, but nothing I couldn't handle dealing with family members. 7 take out meals, totaling $200 with only six days left is impressive for me. I'm tallying up the remainder of my expenses and will publish my report in a few days. Good to hear your no-buy months is going according to plan utilizing food items you already have.

I do extremely well buying in bulk and freezing meat and veggies. However, as the woman you met at the Market does with freezing fresh, soft fruit each week, I need to invest time in this. My recommendation for saving on rising food costs is to stock your pantry and freezers with items bought in quantities. This method is especially handy for dry goods and toiletries. A few days ago, local store shelves were empty of milk and certain canned goods. I don't know if if has to do with the supply chain issues. But I've noticed a sharp spike in produce, meat, and dairy.

Congratulations to @bearmol and @tokutaro22 for winning in the Wheel of Names.

I do plan to participate in the April HivePUD, and will include my 1st quarter review of my Saturday Savers Club activities.

Have a good rest of your weekend everyone.

The March no-buy has been so good, hasn't it? A good month to choose, it seems. I haven't spent as much as I had budgeted for and I've had fun with my £10 a week contingency budget. Looking forward to your report.

The shelves seem to be a bit erratic since the pandemic. Sometimes there are gaps, other times they are full. I'm putting together a bulk order for the beginning of April - I have a couple of £10 off coupons to use.

Thanks for your ideas 😍

You're welcome. I'm glad I add a small sum in my monthly budget for contingencies. If I don't use it, I transfer the amount to my savings.

Yes, March was a good month it seems..less expenses before the middle of Spring and into Summer where we plan to do a few short day trips. I'll have to adjust my budget starting in April.

Thanks for stopping by.

Congrats to this weeks winners!! Another week of savings sorta have been buying lower price club life this week as some have been selling cheap (great for me) Other than that not much happening better half in the hospital to get her new foot, hope she gets out of the hospital soon. I never have done hive power up day as I power up hive every day to make sure I am making the interest as soon as possible. I have also been getting some HBD to earn the high interest rate that it is paying. Have a great week all.

Congrats to the wheel of names winners! I am now up to 141 EDS, so chugging along. I have been getting some great coupon/rebate deals of late, so saving money that way. My favorite rebate app is ibotta, where I get the majority of my deals (cough here's my referral code, I think it's that we both get a $10 bonus if you use it, cough: ptonkkp -tho I think it may only be available in the States). If you spend some time scouting the deals and poking around stores, you can occasionally score freebies and "moneymakers," which is, you get the free thing plus money back. Sometimes I pick up a thing that I myself can't use due to allergies but it was free/a moneymaker, and then I can give it away to others. I've got a couple of those things right now so I'm squirreling away a few more as I get them and then putting out another snack box for delivery drivers. I did that once a couple of years ago, and after the drivers had taken my snacks, other neighbors chipped in snacks too, so it lasted a while. We have several deliveries in the building every day and they keep such tight schedules, I bet a lot of them skip meals trying to beat deadlines, so hopefully the snacks are helpful. :)

The coupon ideas are great and so nice to put out snacks for delivery drivers. Our drivers are always super nice, with the change to more online shopping during the pandemic, I've got to know them much more personally now. I guess unwanted coupon bargains would also be good extras for food banks, too.

Personally, I'm useless at coupons, If I remember to check my offers, I forget to use them 😁. I prefer the scheme at one place where you get points and then you can use them to pay for your goods now and then.

The EDS are coming along so well, that is amazing progress since the start of the year.

Petco has a points system like that, after you spend so much money (it has recently gone up and I think it's $160 now or something, it used to be $100), you get $5 to spend. Target has a cash back system (well, cash back to spend) plus Target Circle coupons in their app. The three rebate apps I use that aren't store specific are ibotta, Fetch, and Shopkick, but I get the most use out of ibotta.

Hello. Wow, you're really racking up the EDS. The coupon deal I've been using for several years is Rakuten. It was previously known by another name. What I like about this coupon deal is when you order online, it scours the various stores to find deals for you and lists them in your search if a coupon is available. I have so much going on that I totally forget to list sources I use when asked about savings techniques.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much for the prize. My savings plan is going well, this week I managed to get back on track and stick to the plan.
Here you can see my report if you are interested

It is wonderful that SPI pays on Hive, I am a holder of 11.28 tokens. That will help me to comply with my savings plan and thus I will change this coffee maker.

I've just discovered this club thanks to @tokutaro22 post on it today (thanks !). I love the concept, so I'm in. I'm still new to Hive (joined around the end of Nov) - but have been hodling and investing where I can. I'm currently working on powering up more HIVE to get my initial leo.voter delegation to 100HP. I'm currently at 35HP, but this has spurned me on do get there quicker. I also put 5HBD into savings today, bought around 7.5Hive worth of utopis, and 7.5hive worth of DEC (to help with splinterlands airdrop - but also used some of that to buy another Harklaw card to rent out). I hadnt heard of SPI or EDS before so they will be one of my next targets.
Anyway - great idea - I'm looking forward to joining in ! What a great community !
