I start my first post of 2022 in Motherhood sharing a wonderful experience we lived as a family thanks to the imagination of my little Miranda!

I confess I thought a lot about writing this post or not because I definitely don't want you to think I'm crazy for celebrating a stuffed animal's birthday hahaha! But I thought it was so cute to see our daughter's excitement when she was making the preparations and to see her happiness to know that we would accompany her in her celebration that I didn't want to miss the opportunity to share it because it ended up being a great teaching for everyone. Besides, who could refuse to attend such an organized party.

Yo inicio mi primer post del 2022 en Motherhood compartiendo una experiencia maravillosa que vivimos en familia gracias a la imaginación de mi pequeña Miranda!

Les confieso que pensé mucho sobre escribir éste post o no porque definitivamente no quiero que piensen que estoy loca por celebrar el cumple de un peluche jajaja! Pero me pareció tan lindo ver la ilusión de nuestra hija al realizar los preparativos y ver su felicidad al saber que la acompañaríamos en su celebración que no quise dejar pasar la oportunidad de compartirlo porque terminó siendo una gran enseñanza para todos. Además quién se podía negar a asistir a una fiesta TAN organizada.

Miranda has a great imagination, she makes up all kinds of games and "presentations", she prepares cards as invitations, she organizes events such as dances, tea parties, art exhibitions, etc. She loves to plan things and takes her time to do it. And this time she decided to celebrate Bubu's birthday.

"Bubu" is her favorite stuffed animal and is the one who has been accompanying her to sleep for the last 4 years. He has a special attachment to her (she is a girl, although her name doesn't make it seem so). So since December 29th I saw her walking around writing things down in an improvised "agenda" and she announced to me "Bubu's birthday is the first and I will throw her a party". I didn't think much of it because she literally uses most of her free time for that.

Miranda tiene una gran imaginación, se inventa todo tipo de juegos y "presentaciones", prepara tarjetas a modo de invitaciones, realiza eventos como danzas, fiestas del té, exposiciones de arte etc. Ella ama planificar cosas y se toma su tiempo para hacerlo. Y ésta vez decidió celebrar el cumpleaños de Bubu.

"Bubu" es su peluche favorito y es quien la acompaña a dormir desde hace 4 años. Tiene un apego especial hacia ella (es niña aunque por su nombre no lo parezca). Así que desde el 29 de diciembre la veía por ahí caminando anotando cosas en una "agenda" improvisada y me anunció "Bubu cumple años el primero y le haré una fiesta". No le di gran importancia porque literalmente la mayor parte de su tiempo libre la usa en eso.

For the occasion he made a varied selection of games among which he included giant dwarf, riddles, a dance war and nerf shooting.

She also drew up a list of what she intended to offer the guests. This included cake, cookies, lemonade, cupcakes and pudding. At most of her celebrations or activities the "food" she serves is either fake (made up by her with tacos or other goodies) or we simply have to make use of our imagination when she hands us an empty plate that is supposed to contain cookies!

Durante el día nos daba "avances" de lo que sería la fiesta, comenzando por la hora del cumpleaños que sería de 6:00pm a 7:00pm. Tenía una lista de invitados donde estábamos incluidos, su papá, Matías (su hermano mayor, la abuela, algunos "amigos" de Bubu y por supuesto yo.

Para la ocasión realizó una selección variada de juegos dentro de los cuales incluyó enano gigante, adivinanzas, una guerra de baile y tiro al blanco con nerf.

También elaboró una lista con lo que pretendía ofrecer a los invitados. Esto incluía pastel, galletas, limonada, cupcakes y pudín. En la mayoría de sus celebraciones o actividades la "comida" que sirve es falsa (elaborada por ella con tacos o material de provecho) o simplemente debemos hacer uso de nuestra imaginación cuando nos entrega un plato vacío que se supone contiene galletas!

Her enthusiasm turned out to be so great that it was contagious and we decided to be an active part of the game! She told her daddy to help her make a plaster cake for Bubu (she already knows how to work with it because she and her brother make pots or containers to play with). When I heard her I said "hey there is still cake left from the 31st, do you want to use it for the party?!" She was so happy to see that we participated in the organization that we decided to do other things.

So we baked REAL cookies and together with her brother made lemonade and set the mood for the party. It felt really good to be a part of it all. That she somehow noticed that she is taken into account and that her "plans" are important.

Su entusiasmo resultó ser tan grande que nos contagió y decidimos ser parte activa del juego! Le dijo a su papá que la ayudara a hacer una torta de yeso a Bubu (ya sabe trabajar con el porque ella y su hermano hacen vasijas o envases para jugar). Cuando la escuché le dije "oye aún queda pastel del 31, quieres usarlo para la fiesta?!" Se puso tan feliz al ver que participamos en la organización que decidimos hacer otras cosas.

Así que preparamos galletas REALES y junto con su hermano hizo limonada y ambientó el lugar de la fiesta. Se sintió realmente bien ser parte de todo ésto. Que de alguna manera notara que es tomada en cuenta y que sus "planes" son importantes.

At 6pm she made the call and we all went to the place where the celebration would be held. Seeing her happy face was definitely priceless. She welcomed everyone, explained the dynamics and said what was allowed and what was not! It was a really organized party! We all participated in the games, including grandma.

You can't imagine how much we enjoyed ourselves, how much fun we had with every activity she planned for us. For me the best part of all was the dance war hahaha and for them the riddles. They have a book with lots and lots of them and each one had to read one for the others to participate.

The moment was so special that my mom said she had a much better time than at Christmas dinner. And we all agreed with her. Even her brother Matias who turns January 6th
asked her to organize his birthday. So our "party planner" got her first job contract!!!! Hahaha

In my family it is very important to spend time together and we do it every time we can, in fact we have a lot of board games and in the evenings after dinner we always play something even if it's just for a moment. It's something we really need (not only them).

A las 6pm hizo el llamado y todos acudimos al lugar en el que sería la celebración. Ver su carita de felicidad definitivamente no tiene precio. Dió la bienvenida, explicó la dinámica y dijo lo que estaba permitido y lo que no! Fue una fiesta realmente organizada! De los juegos participamos todos incluidos la abuela.

No se pueden imaginar lo mucho que disfrutamos, lo que nos divertimos con cada actividad que ella planificó para nosotros. Para mí la mejor parte de todas fue la guerra de bailes jajaja y para ellos las adivinanzas. Tienen un libro con muchísimas y cada uno debía leer una para que los demás participaran.

El momento fue tan especial que mi mamá dijo que la pasó mucho mejor que en la cena de Navidad. Y todos concordamos con ella. Incluso su hermano Matías quien cumple el 6 le pidió que organizara su cumple. Así que nuestra "party planner" tiene su primer contrato de trabajo!! Jajaja

En mi familia es muy importante pasar tiempo juntos y lo hacemos cada vez que podemos, de hecho tenemos muchísimos juegos de mesa y en las noches después de cenar siempre jugamos algo aunque sea solo un momento. Es algo que realmente necesitamos (no sólo ellos).

Games are a big part of our children's daily life, they are part of their development and growth. With them they learn to share, to socialize, to imagine and create and I feel that many times we don't give them the importance they deserve. We want them to play alone or with their siblings and we refuse to participate in their games because we are tired or do not have time, without stopping to think about how important it is for them that we are actively present in every stage of their lives and games are a big part of it.

Being accomplices of their games and adventures, giving importance to things that are important to them as in this case Bubu's birthday (as silly as it may seem to them) I assure you will make a big difference.

That day Miranda felt happy, she felt accompanied, she felt loved and special, reinforcing her self-confidence and strengthening her self-esteem. She knows that her family is there for her, ready to share every special moment.

Being parents is not only educating and covering material needs, it is accompanying, it is being with them and taking advantage of every moment with them, so let's take some time to participate in their games, imagine with them, eat plasticine cakes, drink delicious imaginary teas and have long chats with their dolls. Life is a little while and they won't be children for long.

Los juegos forman gran parte del día a día de nuestros hijos, son parte de su desarrollo y crecimiento. Con ellos aprenden a compartir, a socializar, a imaginar y crear y siento que muchas veces no le damos la importancia que merecen. Queremos que jueguen solos o con sus hermanos y nos negamos a participar de sus juegos porque estamos cansados o no tenemos tiempo, sin detenernos a pensar en lo importante que es para ellos que estemos presentes de manera activa en cada etapa de sus vidas y los juegos forman una gran parte de ella.

Ser cómplices de sus juegos y aventuras, darle importancia a cosas que para ellos la tienen como en éste caso el cumpleaños de Bubu (por muy tonto que pueda parecerles) les aseguro que harán una gran diferencia.

Ése día Miranda se sintió feliz, se sintió acompaña, se sintió amada y especial, reforzando así su confianza en sí misma y fortaleciendo su autoestima. Sabe que su familia está para ella dispuesta a compartir cada momento especial.

Ser padres no es sólo educar y cubrir necesidades materiales, es acompañar, es estar y aprovechar cada momento con ellos, así que papitos tomemos un tiempo para participar de sus juegos, imaginemos con ellos, comamos pasteles de plastilina, bebamos deliciosos tés imaginarios y tengamos largas charlas con sus muñecos. La vida es un ratito y no serán niños por mucho tiempo.
