Comic Book Community Introductions!

Well, I am pretty unfamiliar with the community aspect of Steemit. But from the looks of it this actually looks like a pretty cool, more streamlined way to see specific content (in this case comics) than on the main site! So that is pretty exciting.
A big thanks to Douglas for creating this! I guess I will jump in and get the ball rolling a little bit. I hope to see a bunch you other creator's work as well!

So my name is Justin Bowling. I am a comic artist based in Minneapolis Minnesota. I recently finished my first large project called "Second Wind" which will be (finally) printed in a few months. I also do some short contributions to the anthology Emanata based out of New York and the anthology Helock Comics based out of Cape Girardeau Missouri.

Here are some selections from Second Wind along with some other work:

And some other random bits from commissions or other stories

There ya go! Again, I am really excited to see some of your work, thoughts, ideas etc. on here as well. This looks to be a community for ANYTHING related to comics, not just creating them. So have at it!

Cheers.

Cripes man...that's some real decent work! You've come a long way...I may need to start discouraging you soon, for my own self preservation.

This is cool. Everyone needs more comics in their life and this community could provide them.

Excellent work - I believe there is a growing community of Comic book fans on Steem.

@steevc, @brian-imhoff, @blewitt - has anyone set up a Comic Book hive Community yet?

Not an area I know a lot about - but I believe there are quite a few comic fans on Steem?

I just set up an Ithaqa Community and would be happy to pay the 3 steem to make a comic book community, but I don't want to step on any toes.

Nor do I fully understand the community system yet.

There are a couple of comic communities already. It would best to build on one of those if the artists can settle on one.

Which one is Bryan a part of? I can jump on that one!

Bryan is in this one. This has less members. We need others like @katharsisdrill and @northwestnomad to get involved too. It will be great to have one place where people can find lots of comics. Even if people do not publish every comic there it can be a place to showcase work and discuss the industry.

Done! Subscribed to COMICS BOOKS fan/pro

May be hard to believe, but I totally spaced the whole communities thing and didn't even realize it was already live until just today. 🙄

I see great potential with communities. We've been waiting for them for a couple of years. Let's make the most of them.

Is it possible to cross post in multiple communities? I'd like to put Ithaqa in the comics and in the official Ithaqa one too

Are you using Steempeak? This lets you cross-post to communities where the original author gets 90% of the rewards, but the post appears in the feed of the cross-poster and gets separate comments to the original. You can cross-post your own posts, but I may use it to bring extra content to communities I am in.

How do you see the Ithaqa community being used? I guess you could get fan art and reviews in there.

I'm not using steampeak, but I'm open to it! Not sure what it is exactly. Do I just log into it?

I see it as acting like a sub-reddit would. I post official things to it, and in a beautiful scenario we would get some fan art and interaction from subscribers like we used to get back when steem was 2+ USD and everyone was posting like crazy.

Do you think that's a good use of the community tool, or am I using it less than effectively?

If 90% of the rewards go to a community owner, wouldn't that mean that people aren't incentivized to interact with content, because curation rewards would be so low?

I think cross posts are good to get more content in the community and people would still get the same share of curation rewards. We need to figure out how to make the most of the new features.

You can log into Steempeak with Keychain. It has lots of neat features to explore.
