Road Trip, Ahlat- Sarıkum Road, Türkiye

About 65-70 km from where I live, there's a beautiful and historic town called Ahlat. I visit it 6-7 times a year with my friends. This year I've already visited 3 times, and there's still a long time until the end of the year, so I think I'll visit just as many more times. On the way back from Ahlat, I took a photo of the road while driving.

Yaşadığım yere 65-70 km uzaklıkta Ahlat adına tarihi ve güzel bir ilçe var. Yılda 6-7 kez arkadaşlarımla birlikte orayı ziyaret ediyorum. Bu yıl 3 kez oldu, yılın bitmesine uzun süre var bir o kadar daha ziyaret edeceğimi düşünüyorum. Ahlat dönüş yolunda araba seyir halinde iken yol güzergahının fotoğrafını çektim.

This area is within walking distance of Lake Van. People living here have the opportunity to swim in the lake right from their homes. Those who have worked hard in the fields all day can take full advantage of the chance to cool off by swimming in the lake.

Bu bölge Van Gölü'ne yürüme mesafesinde . Burada yaşayan insanlar evlerinden çıkıp hemen gölde yüzme şansı sahip. Gün boyu tarlada çalışıp yorgun düşen insanlar göle girip serinleme imkanını sonuna kadar değerlendirebiliyor.

The land consists of volcanic soil, which is very rich in minerals and fertile. But there is no water for this fertile soil. Farmers irrigate the land with well water. The best potatoes and tomatoes in the country are grown in this region. Tomatoes harvested here in September and October are exported to many parts of the country and abroad.

Araziler volkanik kökenli topraklardan oluşuyor, mineral bakımından oldukça zengin, verimli. Ama işte bu verimli topraklar için su yok. Çiftçiler sondaj suyu ile toprakları suluyor. There's a hot spring on the left. Its proximity to the Nemrut Crater suggests the possibility that hot water seeping from the crater may have surfaced here. I've never been there before, but I know people have many complaints.

We arrived at Sarıkum village. The traffic is quite heavy. There are many trucks on the road. This road is used to reach settlements such as Ahlat, Adilcevaz, Muş (some districts), Erzurum (some districts), Erciş, Ağrı, Iğdır, and Kars. If more visionary investors had lived here, places of beauty that would rival the holiday resorts of the Mediterranean could have been built.

Sarıkum köyüne geldik. Trafik oldukça yoğun. Yolda çok fazla tır var. Ahlat, Adilcevaz, Muş (bazı ilçeleri), Erzurum (bazı ilçeleri) ,Erciş, Ağrı, Iğdır, Kars gibi yerleşim yerlerine gitmek bu yol kullanılıyor. Burada daha vizyoner yatırımcılar yaşamış olsaydı, Akdeniz'deki tatil kasabalarını aratmayacak güzellikte yerler inşa edilebilirdi.

Although the sky was overcast, the humidity was quite high. I'm not used to humid weather and it bothers me a lot. It's the effect of Lake Van.
