When the day comes

I imagine every now and then how the day will be when you will be there, I think you will laugh, cry or scream; I don't know if you will be alone or accompanied and even less if it will be me who will be with you. So, for a long time you have been talking about when the day will come to know that country, about love and perfumes, about charming streets and many cafés where I close my eyes and see you sitting there while you decide which dessert to order between one and another that seems more exquisite. I imagine you there, my little one, in front of the Eiffel Tower you dream of so much.

I remember when you asked me one day:

Mom, do dreams come true?

And I answered you yes, everything you wish you can achieve, work and go for them; then you said you would go to the Eiffel Tower. So one day I imagine your face glowing with happiness, you will stare at how big it is, and you will just enjoy it. You will take pictures and maybe record some video, as much as your emotion will let you do, it will be a few or many hours, you will surely come back the next day; I know you.

I long to listen to you while you tell everything, if you say that you still don't believe it and that you would like to stay in that place. I know you'll climb as high as you can, I know; you'll be in no hurry, you'll take your time, because that's who you are, without looking at the clock.

Daughter, that day will come, I will celebrate, and I will be rejoicing, as happy or happier than you.

Cuando llegue el día

Imagino cada tanto como será el día en que estés allí, creo que reirás, lloraras o gritaras; no sé si estarás sola o acompañada y menos si seré yo quien estará contigo. Por tanto, tiempo llevas hablando de cuando llegue el día de conocer ese país, del amor y de los perfumes, de calles encantadoras y de muchos cafés donde cierro mis ojos y te veo sentada mientras decides cuál postre pedir entre uno y otro que parece más exquisito. Te imagino allí pequeña mía frente a la Torre Eiffel que tanto sueñas.

Recuerdo cuando me preguntaste un día:

¿Mamá los sueños se cumplen?

Y te respondí si, todo cuanto desees puedes lograrlo, trabaja y ve por ellos; entonces dijiste que irías a la Torre Eiffel. Así que un día imagino tu rostro resplandeciente de felicidad, te quedaras observando cuan grande es y tú solo lo disfrutaras. Tomarás fotos y tal vez grabaras algún video, todo cuanto tu emoción te deje hacer, serán pocas o muchas horas, seguramente volverás al siguiente día; te conozco.

Anhelo escucharte mientras cuentas todo, si dirás que aún no lo crees y que quisieras quedarte en ese lugar. Sé que subirás todo cuanto puedas hasta lo más alto lo sé; estarás sin apuros, te tomaras tu tiempo, porque así eres tú, sin ver el reloj.

Hija, ese día llegará celebraré y estaré regocijada, tan feliz o más que tú.
