Keep it Easy - Experimental Soundtrack

Let me make a small introduction about myself and these experimental soundtracks:

Despite having grown up near some musicians, and having taken classical guitar lessons since i was very young, i don't consider myself a musician or anything like that.
All I share here are musical experiments that have as their base and influence a mixture of various musical styles and soundtracks of films and short films that i have been watching throughout my life.
There are many artists who influence these experiments and when i have free time and feel more inspired, i like to produce and mix some random sounds just for fun and to relax, and in the end i turn off the lights and try to listen like it was the first time, even after hearing these sounds a lot of times during their production.
The first experiments came after a stay at one of the most famous electronic music festivals in Portugal, the Boom Festival, and after trying out several digital work stations, it was with Reason that i found the tool i work with until today :)
Now that i have made this little introduction let’s go over the details.

Let's get technical

About the software i use to create these tracks:

DAW (Digital Audio Workstation): Reason Propellerhead

Reason is a digital audio workstation "DAW" developed by the Swedish company Propellerhead Software.
This software simulates a rack of signal processors, hardware synthesizers, , mixers, etc., thus mimicking the actual operation of electronic music production.

You can try Reason free for 30 days here

Below you can see some of the virtual devices used in this production:

  • Devices

Redrum Drum Computer

Drum machine built-in pattern sequencer, ten sample playback channels and a huge library of drum kits

Malström Graintable Synthesizer

Synthesizer using Graintable technology that is a cross between granular synthesis and good old wavetable synthesis.

Dr. Octo Rex Loop Player

Reason’s loop player with audio loops that have been sliced into their rhythmic components.

Thor Polysonic Synthesizer

This unique synthesizer features six different oscillator types and four unique filters allowing you to dial in synth sounds that are completely new.

For not considering yourself as a musician you managed to create something quite decent and a track that can be listened to way to the end without getting the idea of I need to switch it off, I can't handle it {LOL}

Boom festival was the trigger. WOOHOO! A festival still on my todo list, already for many years, but for some reason never got to the next step: taking action and get myself tickets and all. Maybe because I feel the festival is too much about psytrance music. Maybe because the heat is too much. Maybe because I need to apply lots and lots of energy to convince my friends to also make this step. But, one day, I'll be at BOOM. When is still the question :) Burning Man South Africa, and the real one are also on the list. You happen to know Fusion in Germany? That's a festival I've been to many times, and is maybe my goto one, the best I've ever been to. Maybe that one is also keeping me back to go to BOOM and Buring Man. Sure, all these are different, but from weather point of view, nothing beats Fusion (not too warm, not cold, forest, trees and all).

Wish you some great days ahead of you, and hope you had some great XMAS days.

Omg, yes i know Fusion Festival in Germany, never attended but in some moment of my life, some years ago, that one was on my list too :) Fusion and of course the Burning Man, not in South Africa but in Nevada... unfortunately it was not possible till today but who knows? maybe one day :P
Thank you for stopping by and a wish for happy new year's eve ;)

Fusion: Though it grows over time, little less freedom, little more control, Fusion of 10/15 years ago is still (kinda) the Fusion of today. Put this one back on the list! 😉 My advise only 🤪

Burning Man: I heard great stories from the African one. This version is soooo much smaller than the original one in the Nevada desert (which I may prefer), and its in a more green environment (still quite hot as I've been told). Since two years we also have a Dutch edition. Super small: Something like 500 people. More like a hippie camping then anything else hahahaha
