Tree giants on a wednesdaywalk.

A lovely walk on a very old wine farm.

I asked Marian to pose to show you the size of this old giant tree.

We are fortunate to live in an historic area where many remnants remain of the first farms in South Africa. It is always such a pleasure to take a walk on the farms and to listen to the plaintive voices of the historic slaves on the wind that rushes through the tree tops.
South Africa has a history of severe struggles, many wars because of the gold that was found here for a later period.
But prior to the gold discovery many wars between the new settlers and the local tribes that inhabited the land.
Enough of history and let's look at the trees.

The roots of the tree formed long lines on the surface in their need for oxygen.

A cable bridge of note that stretched over a river. It is that dark tunnel at the other end that I could never resist to enter into. Been through it a few times now.

Now here is something special, as the yellow wood clump of trees look very young at a distance.

But not so as look at the size of this yellow wood tree trunk.

This "modern" old oak was planted in 1928 and it is not only an ordinary oak, as it has a royal history.

I hope that you have enjoyed the walk and should you ever visit South Africa, head for the Western Cape Province and put this farm on your list to visit.

Vergelegen's Cape Dutch house, gardens and winery are open to visitors. Interesting features of any visit include a trip up the mountain to the winery plant, and a walk under the vast Camphor laurels (Cinnamomum camphora) planted by Willem van der Stel in about 1705 which have been declared a protected provincial heritage site. The winery is uniquely shaped in an octagon form that is mirrored on the vineyard's labels.

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Thank you for this kind reply my dear friend.
I can guarantee you that when you take a walk with me, you will lose all of you fear for bridges, as I will never let you walk on a homemade bridge unless I go first and dance on it.
I cannot dance, but I can hop up and down like a pregnant kangaroo and if I am save on the bridge then you will also be safe.

A bloody history indeed and thousands of our women and children had to die from hunger in concentration camps to force our guys to lay down their weapons. All for gold.

Oh yes, we love all of those old giants my friend.
If you look at the link at the bottom of the post you will see that they even have very much older and gigger Camphor trees on the farm. Really huge ones and I have posted them last year.

Thank you and yes, the trees are very old and that one looked like a giant spider clinging onto the earth.
In fact I was following a Paradise Flycatcher bird and he led me straight to the old royal oak tree.
Now I know that you don't know what the bird looks like and he is a real beauty.

Same here by brother 😊

Our new gas geyser batteries packed up and said goodbye. Marian wanted to shower and the water stayed cold. So I had to rush out to go and buy some spares, rushed back and fitted them, geyser now works and I am back here. So everyone is happy 🤣 !LOLZ

I am one of those weirdos that shower hot and then I turn the tap to cold.
They say that it gives one wrinkles, but my face already looks like a map and I don't mind a few extra lines 🤣 !LOLZ

haha, yes, that's right, they always know it better, and if not then they are also right 🤣 !LOLZ

You might have noticed that I have sold another NFT. A friend was so kind 😀 About a third of the ETH 0.11 were costs for minting and gas fees, so not much was left. I can use the money for minting one or two more images, but I am happy, very happy 😁

I have also got invitation codes for inviting new artists and now my Twitter is exploding at the moment. It will be a hard decision, because many have much better photos than I have.

Minting on Foundation costs money and it costs again when you sell. On OpenSea you pay only when you sell, but both take time, too much time which I just don't have at the moment, but I'll be patient and take the next rocket to the moon, or even a later one

I still have no idea how to do and EFT, but I don't think that my photos will do well.
Maybe one day when I get a great photo, you will agree to show me step, by step how to do it in OpenSea as the other one sounds expensive 😉

of course, my friend, I will try to help you, but you still will need a wallet like MetaMask as extension to your browser and I think I also needed a little amount of Ethereum to register or so, but I am not sure.
