Yes. A child definitely follow someone. The first role models who they follow are their parents. Parents should be extra careful about the behaviors, manner etc. in front of a child. Totally agreed with the following sentences:

the words you say, the music and television programs you allow, the dress they put on, are molding their character and their future. Don't be too busy.
