THE FORCE CAN STILL DO BETTER

Hello hivers, I welcome you back to my blog this beautiful day, I hope you have a great day ahead.

Honestly the Nigerian force in general go through alot too but its not an excuse for them to act the way they act, most times they act in such rutheless manner, and infact most times they are just on the road to collect bribe, they do not actually check or do their job, just give them 100naira and you’re good to go. When I was still a child, and I heard people say that The Nigerian police loves 20naira, I always thought it was lie but as times went on I saw this with my eyes.

When I was still in school, most times we used to bike to go in and out of the community, we’d see up to five checkpoints on the road, but the police men do not even check for anything, they do not check documents or if the bike was even stolen all they knew was collecting 100naira take your number and go. Now imagaine what is the difference between 20naira then and 100naira now?

Some years back, my elder brother was taking my younger sister and I to school with my dad’s car, so when we got to the checkpoint, these men when putting brown uniforms and wine colored cap, I didn’t even know they force they belonged to, they stopped us and asked us to park, my brother was playing our tribal song which the head officer knew because he was thesame tribe with us, He asked for the documents of the car which brother my showed him, he asked for driver’s license, my brother showed, when he saw that everything was complete, he started asking for fire extinguisher, my brother told him that it was in the boot, he said he wanted to see it, and we had so much in the boot, we had our foodstuffs, clothes which really occupied the boot… this man said we must bring down everything, my brother was getting really pissed but he had no choice, he had to bring down everything and showed him the fire extinguisher. The next the man said was that he is of thesame tribe with us and we the ijaws we love to show off and I was like really??, after that this man literally came to where I was standing and was stylishly asking for my phone number, Lol the way I hissed and went inside the to sit down, I’m sure he was dumbfounded.

The next thing, since they didn’t see any complains the man started asking for money, my brother was really angry and was reluctant but they didn’t want to let us go, my brother had to call my dad, my dad called one of his army friend who was a senior office and told him what happened, the army man talked to the officer and they later told my brother just find them money to drink water, my brother gave them 500naira, and we left.

What I actually picked in their situation was that, some of them are actually good people but the Nigerian government is actually frustrating them, their bosses sit in their offices and take all the lion share, while the ones on the check are meant to suffer and do the dirty work, what else can they do rather than take their frustrations out on the masses.

So sad that it's really happening. Hopefully that corrupt practices of government officials will stop so the cops will do what is good for the benefit of the people.

Everything that has a beginning has an end, but when it takes a longer time, it should be questioned. If only the hirachy of power is in order, other things will follow up. Good publish @deborah-yelemu. Let's keep hoping and believing. Enjoy your day.

I think attitudes trickle down. Bad people on top.. bad people below. I hope things get better for you there.

Thanks for posting

I wonder what kind of situation we find ourselves. The police have made every opportunity opened to them to extort rather than do what is necessary.

Road side tasking has been a normal thing now for the Nigeria police, whether you like it or not you have to remit the cash.
