Proving That I Have a Brain

Just Kidding But...

I was just reading the latest post by @themarkymark asking 'What tribes do you participate in'. He lists some of them off gives a bit of a description for each.

This has got me thinking a bit, which I actually commented about under his post. Why is it that LeoFinance is the only tribe that has taken it to the next level? All of the outreach, building and integrating new tools, building customized interfaces and websites. It seems that most tribes just clone the vanilla website and don't really do much to stand apart. Is it just a technical limitation, or is there simply a desire to maintain a Hive.blog aesthetic?

Look at my big brain daddy!

Currently I'm logged into proofofbrain.io which I literally just learned about a few minutes ago. I like the idea! I am going to work on getting me a few of those POB tokens and work on curating some content of those who are producing it here.

One thing that I'm not a massive fan of that keeps me from participating a lot on tribes is the fact that a 100% vote on a tribe counts against your hive vote, leo vote, or whatever other tribe vote. I would love to see a slider that allows you to adjust this on individual tribes.

I'm not sure if this is even technically possible. It's not that I want to take away rewards, it more that I'd like to be able to use 100% of my voting power on one tribe, but still go back to vanilla hive and curate. I might be thinking completely wrong about this, but I'd like to hear others opinions on this matter. What do you guys think?

I think for most of these projects there is little emphasis on user experience. Leo did the right thing and sorted out their unique interface. Other projects can take the cue.

Exactly, when I go to some of the tribes it just feels like they are trying to make of quick buck from token sales. Very low effort. Reminds me of all the Steem clones like Weku and Bearshares. I give them some slack when the tribe actually brings something new and interesting to the table.

Indeed, Leofinance was the only tribe that kept on improving its UI and bring some other services (hivestats, leodex and more recently cubdefi). This is why they were rewarded and other tribes such as Palnet went to oblivion.

I hope other tribes follow in the footsteps of leofinance and adopt an innovative mindset. This is the inky way to get long-term traction for their project.

It's not exactly what you've described, but if you go to the rewards tab on Leo DEX you can set a vote weight multiplier for each token.

Hello there @nuthman !

I completely agree on the slider even if there are some ways to adjust your tribe vote to be a multiple of your hive % vote. This is still automated and there is not really a way to manually change it for every vote.

If you learn of something new on this front, hit me up !

I also have been joining the ProofOfBrain crew and I will see you there then ;)

I read that post too but I already knew about proofofbrain tribe and like I said in his post that it seems like an interesting project which I hope to dive into sooner or later.
Anyway I also feel each tribe shouldn't be dependent on hive even when it's built within the huge ecosystem
I also had the same issue and I also wish to give a person a 100% upvote on another interface without my voting power draining out from hive preference.

I agree. The tribes should be built on Hive but able to work independently.

Speaking of Leo, you need to jump over to their interface on Leodex.io. You can adjust your voting weight so that your tribe votes don't impact your Hive vote as much. It is pretty cool. You should totally check it out.

Yeah, I just learned about that voting weight option. I need to check it out!

I've used the vote weight multiplier in Leo Dex with some success but overall it is hard to control my VP for the three main platforms I am concerned with right now Hive, Leo and POB.

I guess what I would like to see, but would probably be a nightmare to program and use across multiple communities, is individual sliders would pop up for each tagged community in a post when you hit the vote button. A curator could then just accept the normal values shown to curate to each community or slide one or more to different values.

Just remember though I am more of a dreamer than a programmer. ;)

I wasn't even aware that that tool existed. I will have to check it out. I feel like by default every community should be 0% by default when you upvote from another community. You should be able to manually adjust it for each one. I don't know if this is a fundamentally complicated request.

I am still wondering whatever happened to SMTs. I though this was a temporary hack.
