Tribal thoughts

During these times of isolation it has given me time to rethink my position on Hive and what is important to me going forward. One area I have given some thought is surrounding tribes - they were the buzzword a few months back when introduced on Steem, but now have fallen to the side a little bit (for me anyway!).

With the introduction of communities it seems to have filled in the gap nicely and means I can get all the information I want in one website rather than having to check into multiple sites each day - it always seemed like hard work to me. So who is still logging into specific tribe sites and posting each day? It is nice earning some extra tokens for posting the same content, but I do wonder how many people are actually using these sites for their functionality, and how many are just using the tags and collecting a few extra tokens - I belong to the second group sadly.

On top of all this with the split from Steem alot of the tribe tokens have plummeted in value and are now worth peanuts! I know some of these will migrate to Hive and shoot back up in value but I am skeptical about the utility of these and how much value they actually add to the overall ecosystem here.

Additionally for new users it just adds an extra barrier to learning - what are the extra sites that look like Steem/Hive, and how do they work/what do they do? Isnt it just easier to have 1 main site, with functionality to filter for certain content easily - this is what community is doing. I still think that keeping things simple for the moment rather than over complicating things is the best way forward to increase the overall userbase of ´everday´ users.

Anyway, just some thoughts! I would love your input :)
