The Art of Preserving Flowers Using Epoxy Resin

There are certain moments worth remembering that you wanted to preserve by placing it in a jar or photo frames aside from social media of course. With the trending DIYs, I've noticed that using Epoxy resin seems to excel in various creative designs when it comes to flooring, tables or even to the smaller creations like jewelry making. This time, I've decided to try it by preserving the flowers taken from the bouquet given by the best friends of my daughter during her arrival at the airport from Germany. She only comes home for a short vacay once a year. I used epoxy resin inorder to preserve this precious moment.
Materials to be used:
• 1 liter Epoxy resin
• Molder
• Measuring cups
• Spoon or flat stick
• gloves
• Flowers
Instructions:
- Prepare the molders that you wanted to be shaped. Place it on a well balanced board to create a levelled resin.
- Take note on the ratio at the bottom of the label of the epoxy resin that you've bought since they have varied measurements. I chose the 3:1 ratio which means that you need to mix 3 units of A mixture over 1 unit of B mixture which is the hardener.
- Since the molders are thicker (about 6" tall x 1/2" in thickness) I used my recycled coffee cup to meet the exact amount be used.

- Mix the two components by stirring gradually to blend with each other for a minute before pouring it to your molder.

- While waiting, arrange the flowers you'd like to preserve.

Take note that the epoxy resin should be cured approximately within 24 hrs to meet the desired solid strength.
- Pour a small amount on the base of the molder to let the flowers stick. Therefore, arrange it first as to where you'd like to place them before pouring the first components to avoid messing.

- I utilized some of my finished products for additional decors as well.

*- After 24 hrs., test if it's no longer sticky and well dried before removing it thoroughly from its molder.

- Take a look on the edges if it's no longer sticking to the rubber molder. If not, then it's time to remove them. There are 3 molders to be considered: 1 for the big heart, 1 for the small one and a separate molder for the stand.

- After the long wait... :)

Perfect!

My finished product
Epoxy resin consists two components of thermosetting plastic which transforms from liquid to solid using the B hardener thereby creating a heat resistant material making it trending for its high viscosity in various coating and crafting.
Thank you for your time my dear readers and thanks for the visit.
