Today I will be sharing with you the cutting and sewing process of this beautiful princess dart bustier straight gown outfit with ruffles on the shoulder I made for myself for my brother's wedding.

This outfit was made December last year for my brother's wedding which took place on 23/12/2023, but unfortunately, I couldn't make the post then but thank God it occurred to me now and I thought I should share the beautiful outfit here, this is my own outfit I made for myself to the wedding.

As we usually do here, when a member of the family is getting married, the family members will buy a particular fabric for the purpose of the wedding, just to be unique on that special day, for this wedding, I was contacted by my sister's to get a beautiful lace fabric from the market for the family, since I stay at a place where we could get quality fabric in bulk and also at cheaper rate, I went to the market and bought fabric for the family members taking into consideration the color of the day which was sky blue and royal blue head gear, the lace was for the female, while a matching color of plain fabric was gotten for the male.

I sent the materials to them at home while I made mine and that of one of my sister.

To make this my beautiful outfit, first was to cut out the lower part of the gown which was an shape gown with tail at the back, from the waist line to the full length measurement, this was placed on the satin for the inner lining.

For the upper bodice, I drafted out a princess dart bustier pattern on a brown paper to make the upper bodice with my bodice measurement. The pattern was placed on the lace fabric, then on a matching colour satin and lining to cut out same shape as the pattern.

The front and back were sewn together with warden at the bust area and zipper allowance at the back with lining.

The lower part of the dress was sewn as well and set aside for the completion of the upper bodice after which the two were sewn together.

The sleeves were cut out using a basic long sleeve pattern and sewn to the armhole circumference.

After the sewing was completed, I thought of a way to make the dress stylish and beautiful, so with the remaining satin material, I cut out a flounce long enough to go round the armhole circumference 3times, the flounce was sewn with a 1" crinoline to make it firm, this was successfully done and iron.

Finally the flounce was sewn to the armhole circumference on the tip of the shoulder.

This is the beautiful outcome of my dress, I hope you like the outcome on me with my head gear.

This is exactly what most people said about the dress, the flounce is actually what makes the dress stand out, thanks for appreciating my work.
