My emotions toward material progress are very complex. On one hand I feel bad if villagers are hindered from progress but we will all suffer from negative consequences when nature strikes back due to overexploitation. By then, too late to regret! There has to be a balance or middle ground and sustainability has to be taken into consideration.

I think most people will have to learn the hard way! Poor people tend to go overboard once they could enjoy material progress, because their needs had been suppressed for too long.

Nowadays it’s the rich, educated class who are buying up land to grow trees and forest. It’s those nouveau rich, who used to be poor, but now on positions of power that are hungry for corruption money and destructive projects which give them commissions!
I actually know some of these people, big people with high positions! Crazy world we are living in.

I think poverty is more severe among the middle class who have no agricultural land or villages’s culture. Poor or unemployed people in the countryside fare much better than unemployed middle class people. More suicide cases by middle class people have not been reported or published.

Thank you for your very logical reasonings. True. Absurd world! Challenging to remain sane.

I could see and learn from my own families’ circles and their associates; my senior friends from old alumni clubs and friends’ families. Human nature always amazes me and causes confusion in my head too. So, I tend to walk away from all complications or deals concerning power and money. It’s better to stay safe than be sorry later on.
