We are Lady Parts - Not your average sitcom

There have been plenty of movies and TV shows about fictional bands, but when I read about this on I was intrigued. I do no think there can be many all female, Muslim punk bands.

Amina is a shy PhD student who is looking for a husband. She also like American folk music, but suffers from serious stage fright. Lady Parts are looking for a guitarist and she is in their sights.

Most of the action takes place in areas of British society that many of us may not see much of, but the girls are dealing with issues with friends and family that will be largely familiar. The road to rock success can be messy and full of disappointments.

The overall arc of the show may echo previous stories, but there is lots of fun along the way. The characters are great. It does deal with issues of racism and sexual identity, but not in a jarring preachy way. There are a few fun fantasy sequences.

Also great is the music with a fair number of original songs and some covers. The cast played these themselves and some had to learn their instruments for the show.

The writer Nida Manzoor was inspired by This is Spinal Tap and The Young Ones. Both good things to be influenced by.

It is only six short parts. We watched the last four in one go last night as we wanted to see what happened.

Rock and roll!

I'll have to give it a watch on my own. I've tried to get the wife to watch other videos with lady parts and that didn't go down well at all....

Come on someone had to put that comment here, and you'd be disappointed if they didn't....

You had to go there! My wife enjoyed this and I think my daughter is watching it too.

All female mulsim punk band... whoa! I have a hard time contemplating this! Wasn't there any outcry when it came out?

I've not heard of any outcry. I don't know how it went down in the Muslim community, but I thought it respected that culture.
