A Day at the Bay

It's my son's 8th birthday next Monday. Today, while he was at school, my partner and I drove half an hour away to Hervey Bay and trawled the shops there for certain items. Namely: a trampoline.

Before that though, we wandered through the botanical gardens to sate my photography urges.

This was my first time at the Hervey Bay Botanical Gardens, and to be completely honest... I was a bit disappointed. Going for a more rainforest aesthetic, there was hardly a flower in sight and I was really expecting to see masses upon masses of colourful flowers.

It's still a lovely place, albeit populated with a vast swarm of mosquitoes, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting.

We spent about an hour there whilst my partner humoured my taking photos of rocks and logs. Our intent was to pass enough time so that when we finished at the gardens there'd be enough time to peruse a few shops before going to The Pasta Bar for lunch.

If you ever find yourself in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia... The Fraser Coast Artisan Pasta Bar is to die for. We've been there twice now and both times have been amazing.

You choose a sauce, choose a type of pasta, get a side of mozzarella sticks, and indulge! Today I had your typical spaghetti and napoli meatballs and my partner had gorgonzola gnocchi. Both were fantastic! A small bowl is $15 and is honestly more than enough. Their 'small' serving is a 'large' for me. Their 'large' would fully feed a single person for two days.

The only thing that bothers me is the fact they have a traditional tiramisu on the menu and they never make it for their lunch time crowd! Or, if they do, they must only make a tiny batch and they get sold out the moment their doors open at noon.

After our hour-long visit to the botanical gardens, we found ourselves at Kmart where we were in luck - they had one trampoline available in the size we wanted. 12ft. And we arranged for it to get delivered on Friday morning.

I don't usually leave birthday and christmas presents so late -- I usually get things months!!! in advance -- but we've had a few monetary issues lately and I'm just grateful some of those issues have been rectified and today we could afford the trampoline.

I also got him a few books and some little cars; the main thing is the trampoline.

Since his birthday is on Monday, we'll be celebrating on Sunday instead... which is Mother's Day! But we have a couple of friends coming over with their boys and I guess us adults will drink Mother's Day Wine while the kids play on the Birthday Boy's Trampoline.

I plan on making a delicious chocolate cake too. He can help me make it on Saturday and on Sunday we shall all devour the thing! 😁 🎂

All in all, today was a productive day. Photo-wise, purchase-wise, and lunch-wise.

I was going to make pasta for dinner tonight. 😅 Not now. It's been 4 hours and I'm still stuffed.

Until next time,

Thanks for stopping by! 😊

Enjoying your photos as if I was walking in a soothing nature, even though you are not completely satisfied there. Thanks for sharing your photography. My favorite photo is about woodiness :)

Thank you 😊 it was nice there! I was just hoping to see more colourful flowers. My favourite photo is the first image with the bird looking at me weirdly. 😅
