"Hands are the Light of the World" for a Powerhousecreatives Contest
This is to be my entry into the contest created by @zord189.
Now, while it specifically says:
- Your photo (which MUST be taken specifically for this contest)
disclaimer
I am going to include two items from the past, because they are
ESSENTIAL to the whole gist of my post. I hope these two
Will not disqualify my entry
With our hands, we interact with the world, for good or ill.
It should ALWAYS be for good.
With my hands, I can write/type inspirational poems. I can put
My thoughts down on screen or paper, so that others can
Enter my head (now THAT'S a scary thought 😜)
My EYES can read the music written by someone hundreds of
Years ago, and my HANDS can recreate that beautiful sound,
But interpreted through the filter of MY life and MY experiences.
I apparently have a 'green thumb', because I've always had plants
In my home, and for the most part, they've done well. So well in
Some instances, that I no longer had room to keep nor ability to
Care for them, so sadly I had to let some die, after I'd had them
for 10 yrs or more. That broke my heart.
And yet I carry on, continuing to grow the ones I have, caring
For them, sometimes with a great deal of effort, expense and
Emotional turmoil!
I bought these plastic enclosures to save my plants from the
Cold, because I didn't have room indoors nor would my back
Allow me to move my big ole Dracaena’s.
I've created works of art with these hands, most of which have
Been lost to the Vagaries of time and vengeful landlords.
This one is a recreation of a pencil drawing I did while in
High School, the only other one that still exists is a photo
of one of my pencil self portraits that I use in some of my
Footers.
I Like to cook, but doing so for one is SUCH a bore, and leaves
One with leftovers which, if not eaten quickly, will be thrown
Out.
Wasting food is a sin, in my opinion. There are far too many
Hungry people in this world for me to do that with a good
Conscience.
Here comes the questionable entries
I am an Entertainer, first and foremost. I've found my Niche in life
Bringing joy, smiles and distraction from the woes of the lives of
Elderly folks who have been institutionalized, whether it be a
Nursing home (such as this one with the "Elephant Nose") or
A Memory Care. I don't dance, but this lady jumped up and
Caught me off guard, so I danced. She was newly entered here
In this photo from 2013, I saw her again in 2019, she didn't
Remember me nor doing this dance, but we did another one
Just for that day.
So whether we are cooking for loved ones, making music to
Soothe ourselves or one another, or if we are simply extending
A hand in loving support and gentle guiding care to our older
Generations, our hands are the way we express ourselves to
Our world, its people and the plants and animals.
I hope you've enjoyed this presentation.

Nice entry for the contest! I'm just the opposite of you when it comes to plants, and I even grew up on a farm. Me buying a plant is like it's been sentenced to death and I am the executioner. 😂
Good Morning @free-reign, over the years (but not so much recently)
I've gotten many of my plants saving them from people like you!😈
I'd go to someone's house, see a dead or dying plant, ask for it
Take it home and most often, in a week or so, I would have a
Healthy plant. Saved me lots of money! ha ha...
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Your hands tells such a beautiful story thanks for sharing with us. I just wish I also had a green thumb like yours.
Thank you so much @watersnake101, I just had this
"Green Thumb" discussion in another
Comment. I truly appreciate the
Compliment and comment.
Good Morning!
With our hands we can do wonderful things, which hurts that many use them for bad things
And it is unfortunately true, and it would be
So easy for this to not be so.
Great post. Hands are admirable fo all the things they allow us to do. We take most of tose things for granted until we can't do them. The hands of an artist are especially admirable.
One of my deepest, most cardinal
Fears all my life, has been to
Lose the use of my hands.
What a nightmare that
Would be for me, for
Anyone for that
Matter!
This is a wonderful post Jerry @jerrytsueer. Sense I play cribbage and other card games, the hands are the first thing I notice ...well maybe second thing after the face. 😂
Here’s a !tip for you, my friend.
Thank you @redheadpei, I am grateful for the support
(and for the comment)
🎁 Hi @jerrytsuseer! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @redheadpei!
@redheadpei wrote lately about: Wintertime Feel free to follow @redheadpei if you like it :)
Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide.
Your hands must be very tired after all the cooking, arting, plant caring, piano playing, dancing, ... Despite the loss from nasty landlords and the memories forgotten by those you've touched along the way, What is happening now is what counts! I think your hands have a lot of good still left in them :-) [Virtual High Five]

giphy is not giving me good ones lately.. Sorry Jerry about the high five guy.. I was thinking a nice clean cool jump and connection of palm to palm. Too much to ask I suppose hehe.
ha ha ha ha... don't worry about that Brad.@bdmillergallery
There's a lot of High Fivin going on around here.. The Office and Cheech & Chong's brother. haha.
Yes, I never watched the Office, but I've seen plenty of clips, and I thought that one was cool.
Thanks for commenting again Brad @bdmillergallery. Does that bother you when I use your real name? If so I won't do it again

Sweet! Thanks. I did laugh at it, then was like oh crap. I tried to hide it with a downvote, but that didn't work. Sorry and thanks for the most appreciated advice!
Don't downdoot my bot giphy hehe! He's trying his best!
I switched my vote hehe.. Feel terrible about it. My fault anyhow.. I confused him. The "High Five" blunt smoker is growing on my.. Jerry seems cool with it :-D so I am.. Hahaha.. Thanks again @contrabourdon!!!!!!
Thanks! If you have a spare witness vote, please consider voting my witness @untersatz. !ENGAGE 25

I haven't done any art in quite a while now, I rarely dance (though I am considering trying for some lessons for a foxtrot or 2 step, just so I CAN avoid embarrassment in my gigs.)
Thanks for stopping by @bdmillergallery
What a precious post @jerrytsusser. Our hands are so important, it looks as though you certainly use yours to make the world a better place! You are truly gifted. Blessings
I thank you so very much. My about in you know where
Says:
"I am gratified that I have the means and the time
to use my talents to help others.
And I really mean that!
When you come to think of it our hands are an extension of so many things in life.
Cradling a new born or holding the hand of a loved one in their last days, yes our hands tell stories!
Good Morning @joanstewart, if you think about it in 'computer terms' our hands are our main Interface with everything around us.
Oh sure, we see videos etc about artists and athletes who have no hands, and those stories are inspiring, but... think about this; it is said that Dolphins and Whales are as intelligent as us, but they have no hands, they can't manipulate their environments, they can't build monuments, temples etc... they don't have a CIVILIZATION, not one we can recognize anyway.
Thanks for your comforting comment. I appreciate it!
We are unique in many ways, however we perform similar to ants in problem solving as a society, they too build, organize, still one cannot call it a civilization.
You made me think a little here to respond at the end of the day, we will be more aware what we do with our hands.
Hey there, Jerry! You forgot one of the hands...
The one in "hands"ome! @jerrytsuseer😘
Excellent post & entry. Good luck in the contest!
Now I gotta go look @ninahaskin ha ha ha... thanks for commenting. 😎
You haven't lost it my cuzzy, still putting great posts together over the years since tsu.
Congrats on the PHC selection and all of the best in the contest!
Blessings!
Thanks Zac, I am puzzled by something. I just got home from being away since 2:10 pm EST, and I SWEAR I had more rewards accumulated on this post, but now it is only showing $1.20 (he says scratching head)
I am happy to be getting the comments though, and I appreciate that compliment @papilloncharity, appreciate it very much
Hahaha, I find the same thing my cuz and a $20 worth can drop to $16.50 or some such amount. I think they deduct according to the steem price of each day over the post's 7 day period and then once the post reaches 7 days, they deduct an additional amount.
These are just some of my observances and don't take it as gospel.
But I am sure that someone will enlighten us about the deductions in a post.
Blessings to you my bro!
The hands are definitely as important as the feet and they deserve their own post. Good entry! 😉
Ha ha ha... I missed the Feet challenge, good thing too; my feet are UGGGGLY!!
Thanks @mballesteros
So true : "Hands are the Light of the World" and they guide us from the day we are born!
What about that thing on your nose in that clip 😉
That is my "Elephant Nose"
Years ago, right after I came back from the US Air Force, I was in an R&B band, we played mostly bars, and we all got drunk a lot.
I was elected (I wanted to) play all the love songs, mostly solo.
So I'd sit down at my keyboard and do "Lady" (for example) by Kenny Rogers.
Then when I'd finished and all the folks were leaving the dance from after all the "Belly Rubbing" I would say:
"And now, for something completely different" (shades of Monty Python)
I'd bend over behind my keyboard and put on a nose just like this one, and come back up.
It was hilarious!
Then if the crowd were sufficiently intoxicated, I'd take it and stick it in my groin, like I was hung like an elephant! That really got a laugh (because I'm not)
Thanks for commenting @brittandjosie
This is such a great post, @jerrytsuseer! It’s so true how much we do with our hands, and in fact it’s easy to take them for granted. It’s wonderful that you have such great hobbies and activities — including entertaining people. I know what you mean about plants. It’s terrible when we can’t keep them all green and thriving.
Thank you so much @jayna. I've only just now returned from performing in Decatur, it was a terrible drive there and back
the people I was entertaining enjoyed it and we all had a good time, though I cannot think why they wanted me there today of all days.
It was supposed to be a "Family Meet and Greet" but I only saw one family person. I knew all of the people in the audience from past performances.
As for my plants, they are actually doing quite well, given the cramped quarters and the rollercoaster of temps; I have lights inside the plastic enclosure, but even with that and passive heat from jugs of water, the temp will drop down to below 40° only to rise again when the sun comes up to over 80°.
I really really hope I can dismantle the greenhouse and put it away for next year very soon.
Greetings, mate. Original your publication. Thank you for sharing your hands.
My hands are so very important to my life and my world.
Thank you for commenting, have a great day
it's fun to see that your hand was like moving in a different place and doing many things. I do agree the meaning of your poetry..
have a nice day
hokey, but it served the purpose. Now if I had someone to
Be here and take photos of my hands while I was doing
Things, I feel it would have been better, but alas
I am alone and had to photograph one handed.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting
That's a really beautiful entry.
OH!!! Sorry it took me so long to reply @owasco, I saw this and thought I had replied, but apparently I did not.
Thank you so much for the comment and the compliment(s)
Wonderful entry @jerrytsuseer! People don't realise the value of entertainers; you guys help us forget the troubles of this old world, so I take a bow to you! Love that sign about let's live in peace, why can't we do that?
Thank you so much for the comment and the compliment!
Hi @jerrytsuseer. It's me again. Great entry for the hands contest. But the one I love is you at the Elderly Care facility dancing with the resident. Showing your hands holding onto hers and bringing a smile to her face is something that should be done more often by everyone. I loved it. Thanks for sharing that moment.
Bless you my friend @justclickindiva, those are the moments (not the dancing so much) but when I see someone singing along, or their eyes light up 😵, or tear up from some blessed memory 😭... those are the things that keep me going.

Thank you @wonderwop
such a marvelous post. er, I wanted to say, you've got a great great hands! not that I feel envy! but maybe... just a very bit :))))
Thank you @qwerrie, my hands have... "Been around a bit"
(wink wink, nudge nudge)
I really wish you win this nice PWH contest! you deserve it.
Oh that is so nice of you to say @qwerrie. Last I looked there weren't but two of us posting entries, but I haven't looked lately.
It WOULD be nice though, Thanks
This is a lovely publication that essentially captures the importance of hands and their participation in the love we give and receive. I really liked the weaving of words and the supporting images. But, that elephant nose, brought out smiles in me and that is a gain for the soul, the smile shows the sensitivity of the one who creates it and the one who reflects it. Thank you for that!
Oh my goodness, thank you so much @zeleiracordero. It warms my heart to hear you say these things. The elephant nose is my 'pièce de résistance' and I get many a chuckle out of it.
I enjoy my performances, and my audiences apparently enjoy them as well. Glad I brought a smile to you.
