You are not the mistakes you have made!

If people refuse to look at you in a new light and they can only see you for what you were, only see you for the mistakes you've made, if they don't realize that you are not your mistakes, then they have to go.” ― Steve Maraboli

Over the years, I have always done my best not to judge others - or at least to try not to because, well quite frankly – I don't want to be judged either. But why does it seem though that so many people are just completely insistent in pointing fingers at others when they make mistakes - whether large or small... Is it because they are perfect and have never faulted?

(I highly doubt that) Is it because they would prefer the attention not to be on them? Is it because belittling someone else makes them feel momentarily “bigger and better”? Well who the hell knows – But whatever their reason, I think they all need a massive wake up! Life is fleeting and those that do not take the time to learn the “art” of forgiveness (yes it is an art) are definitely losing out.

The reality of the matter is that we mess up repeatedly in different ways and to different magnitudes, but unless you want to be judged for your errors… my advice would be that you take a bit of a back step in being so quick to condemn others that do too.

Take a moment to remember just how imperfectly imperfect YOU are before you wag that finger ;)

"Wag of the finger"! I use that term a lot. "A wag of the finger to you!" It's my way of saying, "Yep, shit happens, now let's move on."

We're the sum of our past, our history, and our mistakes. Really, "Childhood + history + mistakes = You".

I agree that there is an art to forgiveness.. while forgiving others.. yes. The art of forgiving ones self is a much hard art to master. First one has to realize that they are in fact not perfect, not alone, and that they also deserve forgiveness. Anything else is simple a defense mechanism.

“I am not perfect, but if I looked perfect to everyone I must have been rocking imperfect perfectly to a few imperfect souls that seek imperfection vs. perfection, in an imperfect world where God asks us to seek perfection for our imperfect souls.”

When I feel that I am in front of an injustice I usually judge that person very much because it gives me impotence, for example I can't stand the abuse of power, that's my case.
Excellent sweet message Jaynie, and very nice that couple of pictures.
