pas·sion·ate /ˈpæʃənət/ adjective - What are you Passionate About?

pas·sion·ate /ˈpæʃənət/ adjective
1: having, showing, or expressing strong emotions or beliefs

There are countless things about which people are passionate – if something can be experienced, studied, collected, grown, or raised, I can find somebody somewhere - who is passionate about it. This in itself provides great variety in life as we mix with those whose passions are different from ours. A gentle mix of passion and spice that makes the world go round. So, I ask you; what is it that fires your engines every day? What is your passion?

I'll bet some of you expected a photograph of a passion flower, yes?
These days, especially in the world of business, passion is a term that is used as an imperative for getting important things done and for ensuring success. I think it takes a back seat to "commitment", "staying power" "considered thought", and sometimes just plain luck and serendipity.

My passion has always been flying, and everyting to do with the world of flying. A different time in my life, another whole life. When I think about it, long ago enough for me to say another lifetime ago. Can it really be that long ago? To be honest, kids change everyting, even your passions, or perhaps that is the mother in me? My primary focus changed, something I never thought would happen. Still, it doesn't take away my love for it. Have you ever had to shelve your passion, put it away for a bit, or even perhaps forever?

There are so many things in the world that we can be passionate about. You can even have many. I love color, bold and bright and sometimes, even black and white. While people may wonder how I can be satisfied with one after the other, let me just say, it didn't happen overnight and it came to me as a way to cope, relax, unwind, meditate. #alwaysaflower There will always be a flower to color my word.

In this case, less is not more... More is definitely more and not even one single one short.

I focused straight through darkness and into the pouring down of the early morning rain ... past the wipers, the monotony of their cadence - and it suddenly occurred to me that I don't find the desire to escape the rain. Instead, I feel obliged to be within it. Oh, the beauty of a cleansing rain.

20190423_0609111.jpg

Life. I am passionate about life and the sea, the waves that crash the shore or gently crawl their way there. The smell of the salt, they ocean breeze that takes you to another place in your miind. Tell, me do.. What can it be, that you see as your passion?

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

So, I ask you; what is it that fires your engines every day? What is your passion?

My Harris's hawk and the amateur radio. The latter is a hobby, but officially it is a service. Practically it is a lifestyle to many people around the world.

My passion has always been flying, and everyting to do with the world of flying.

Then you probably like/love birds.

Have you ever had to shelve your passion, put it away for a bit, or even perhaps forever?

No, I have not. And i will not in the future either. I live for them. At least for my Harris's hawk. I love her as much as other people love their children. Maybe even more than some parents. Maybe this is more than a passion. The bird is like a soulmate. She is giving the greatest love and peace in this physical world. This is not easy to pour into words. Probably most people do not understand this.

And nowadays I often see parents putting their children behind the TV or behind the PC, laptop, tablet to avoid having to "deal" with them. That is very sad. Of course there are parents too, who work a lot, and they do not have enough time for their children. That is not necessarily their bad. They only want to put food on the table, and they could not do it otherwise. They are (financially) poor, but they live in huge love.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greeting and much love from Hungary.

I was amazed when you first told me about your Harris Hawk. I find it awesome that you keep her inside with you. I don't know anyone personally with a bird of prey. Has she ever been allowed to fly free? Actually, I think you told me you need to be licensed or trained for that, something that prevents you from letting her fly free.

Many parents, like myself, make decisions based on the children they are having or have. They didn't ask to be born, so it is up to us to give them the best world that we can provide.

Of course, I don't talk about money, although that makes life easier in some ways, but, love... If you have love, you have everything.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words! Have a great day!

Actually, I think you told me you need to be licensed or trained for that, something that prevents you from letting her fly free.

Yes. You need to be a licensed falconer to free fly her in Hungary. And in the USA you need to be a licensed falconer to own and keep a Harris's hawk.

Of course, I don't talk about money, although that makes life easier in some ways, but, love... If you have love, you have everything.

If someone's heart is full of love, then it does not matter if he/she is financially rich or poor.

I appreciate the reminder about passion. It's seems obvious that we should be living our passion. Yet it's uniquely human to forget about them. !LUV the post. :)

Thanks for the luv!

You're passionate about flying, that's interesting. I wouldn't have thought that.
I really don't know what I'm passionate about. I feel like it often changes. At one point I was super interested in psychology and would say that I was passionate about it, but over the years that feeling and interest has decreased significantly and nothing has really replaced it.

I guess you really have no reason to think that. :)

Passions change over time I think. What I wanted/do when I was 23 or 25 is different than now. Situations change, additions and subtractions to your family... All of this has some effect on your life.

It is exciting when you find something that you become passionate about. I'm sure you will eventually discover something that reaches down to your soul.

Music is such a wonderful way to express yourself where words fall short... which they never do for you, which is probably your saving grace. You are able to properly (or improperly as the words have a mind of their own.)

That is a strong connection. If you rarely get to indulge and your are still putting out high wattage!

You are going to post some, right?

What a great post to start off the week Denise. I think our passions change all throughout our lives. Marriage, children, job changes, hobbies, and desires to experience something new are forever unfolding. Some of them stay with us for a lifetime and hopefully they are fulfilled. The only one I have yet to achieve is living on a lake. I am only a mile from ours and a bay, but, I am still passionate about doing so even at this late stage of my life. Have a wonderful week.

Our passions do change and most times, it is a slow change when it does. The ones that happen abruptly often come with a life-changing event. We are forever evolving, for sure.

Living on the water is where I grew up, however, it was the ocean, and I loved it. I am not so much a lake person as I am an ocean person. I guess it is what you are used to.

I hope you do go for your lake and why shouldn't you? Do an Airbnb and see how you love it! :)

It is never too late! Have a great week yourself!

So true, we are always evolving for sure otherwise what would be the point. I spent summer weekends on a lake growing up and it got in my blood. I am always near the water but never have I lived on it. Still working on that one and the Airbnb is just what my husband and I thought we would do for now. :-)

It's always the perfect fix until it's the perfect story. I grew up on the Atlantic Ocean and it absolutely gets in your blood so much so that I have a house on the shore just a few hours East of Washington DC just to feed that need. Lol I hear you!

Talking about having passion for something, one that really comes to my mind is playing soccer. From a young age I’ve always knew that but upbringing and my society while growing up won’t help in feeding that passion rather all attention is made to focus on educational pursuits.

I think that happens to everyone at one time or another. For me personally, it signals a shift of sorts to another place.

I believe we can be passionate about many things. It is so hard to choose just one!

I was passionate about my Yorkie, My SweetPea. At one time, it was all that filled my days. I would prepare for competitions through the week, including conformation classes every other day. We competed all the way up to NYC and Canada. When she got her Championship, it was preparing to breed her... choosing the appropriate dog for her. I recall going to dog shows just looking. Then she was bred, and gave birth, raising the puppies...
My break is over, and I have somebody waiting for me.
Thanks for listening. @dswigle !
