The queen of all pests!
Do you know those bugs?
One of the most hated pests in the garden! And one that will always find a way to get to your potatoes!
Colorado potato beetle
This is actually a larva stage. A very hungry stage! They can much bush of leaves in one day... if there is enough of the. Leaf by leaf. And since we do not use any pesticides in the garden, it is a long and quite frustrating battle of picking them manually, spraying the potatoes heavily with water so they drop to the ground, or even just shaking them off from the bush.
One thing I have to give them though - they look freaking cool on the photos! The colours are just spot on. Orange with some dots on lovely green leaves. They do not know how to camouflage, but do the colour mean they are not tasty? How come no bird or bigger insect come eat it. There is plenty for everyone :)

Mira, qué bichito más mono y qué apetito tiene...ese va para chef del jardín
Haha a huge appetite indeed :D
Indeed. I remember my grandmother's reactions towards them.
I can imagine all the bad words coming out of her mouth :p
Neah... she was religious :))
I remember going out to the garden with grandpa and dish of soapy water to pick potato bugs!
Yuk! I wouldn't be able to pick them by hand. But I could wash the off with a hose :P
Kids will do the darnedest things if Grandpa says it's OK!
Hahahha :D :D

The warning coloration of the larvae signals them "I am poisonous, stay away!" And indeed, they can make use of a defensive secretion. Nevertheless, in its original habitat (North America) some birds and other insects are eating it.
That's what I thought. Otherwise birds would have lots of free food.
Thanks!
Award of Beautiful monster goes to this bugs lol it looks beautiful but when it visit your garden there is nothing beautiful in it
Haha thanks for the award.
No... nothing nice to see it in a garden... if there is anything left from the garden.
Damn that is one ugly deformed looking bug more like a Alien bug what amazes me how can they eat so much it must go in one end and straight out the out end without digesting they possibly couldn't hold that much in that ugly body...lol 😆
Hahhaha thats exactly what they do! See all the poops? Eat and poop. All day long!
And bye bye potatoes!
Useless good for nothing make a mess and destroy your plants maybe they are good on a bbq or fried with some hot spices 😆
