Tennessee Passed a Bill to Stop Same-Sex Parents šŸ˜²

ā–¶ļø Watch on 3Speak

The Tennessee state Senate started the 2020 legislative session passing its first bill of the
year: a controversial measure that protects religious adoption agencies if they choose to
discriminate against same-sex couples. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Paul Rose, R-Covington,
declares that no licensed adoption agency would be required to participate in a child placement if doing so would "violate the agency's written religious or moral convictions or policies." It also prohibits the state from denying an agency's license or grant application for public funds because of the group's refusal to place a child with a family based on religious objections. The adoption agency would also be protected from lawsuits for such a refusal. The Senate passed the bill 20-6, with five Republican members declining to vote on the measure, including Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, R-Oak Ridge.

I know Sen. Paul Rose he's a very loud man and he's not so religious, I'm think he might be thinking about the welfare of the child in question for adoption. and as much as this seems logical I don't know what's wrong with same sex parents really, but nevertheless I have no comment on this, it's like morality vs common sense

Well, it was expected that under a majority coservative administration something like this would happen. I can understand the rationale behind the measure. Hopefully that will make their world a better place.
The stigma attached to queer folks can be as irrational as some of the demands within the LGBT community.
We know that morality has no sexual orientation (we have plenty of sexual predators within the heterosexual community, and even within religious communities); but of course, once morality is defined within religious principles or precepts, there's no argument against the same-sex prohibition.
If religion rules and you are acting outside religion, then you lose the legal battle.
I guess, this will go either way depending on the party in power

This is absolutely foolish. I hope they rescind these policies in the future if they are fully accepted and 'constitutional'.

How else will they discriminate? Your sexuality does not determine how good a parent you will be. Plenty of people in male-female couples have abused children. We see progress in some areas and steps backwards in others. There may be a shortage of good homes for needy children so excluding good people like this is harming the kids.
