Strike up the gratitude flame - Show your steem-gratitude

With the recent Thanksgiving day, or turkey day as I've seen some call it, in the States and Canada I saw a stream of gratitude posts on steem. I guess it might have happened on other social media's too but I'm not on any of them so all I saw were on steem.

I thought it was cool, very cool, that people would go out of their way to open up with us about what they were grateful for - I think "voicing" it makes it more real and punctuates it a little more for oneself.

What struck me though, was that it often takes a particular occasion or event to prompt it; Gratitude and the inclination to call it out.

Showing gratitude is free you know, doesn't cost a thing, comes with distinct rewards and is empowering for the person showing gratitude and, if about another person, can empower them also and certainly make them feel good. That's a good thing.

So...I thought I'd see if I could get something going here, in and around gratitude. To be honest I think this has been done before in some format but a long time ago and with so many new people around I thought it would be a good thing to rekindle the gratitude flame.

So, it's a simple concept...Just write a short post tagging three steem-users who you would like to show some gratitude to. Give a brief reason for each and tag #gratitude-flame on the post. That's it.

I'll start.

  • @janton: This gentleman, and I mean that in the true sense of the word, is on my list because he engages with me with a great deal of passion and intelligence. He asks good questions and brings me a laugh or two also. He's relatively new to my feed although I've seen him around and he engages with the best of them. I'm grateful for his company here, his measured and interesting posts and that he takes the time to interact with me with such inquisitiveness. A true champ.
  • @ginnyannette: Ginny was one of the five users I sent an Australian care package to some time ago and due to her Vegemite consumption has become Australimerican - Not quite as awesome as being 100% Australian but in this multi-cultural environment, it's good enough. Why is she on my list? Well, we email each other now and then and she is a cool chick. I reckon we'd get along well in person. She writes well, with passion, humour, candour and a personality that to me seems infectious. She posts sparingly these days but that only leaves me hanging for the next instalment. She keeps it real on the blockchain and in our emails, isn't judgemental and is a lot of fun - That's why she's on my list.
  • @meesterboom: I recall discovering Boom and his blog and thinking, "where has this guy been all my life?" His writing style is beyond funny to me, it's ingenious, and I recall saying as much to my brother. Seriously, this guy should have his own TV show. The way he crafts his posts, saying so much, leaving the reader with such value and yet using his words sparingly...Well, it's a style I envy, respect and respond well to...I Haven't got the knack of short but valuable posts yet.

Anyway, there's three. I could have put thirty three on there though! There are so many people on here that I'm grateful for and although I really want to tag your asses I won't as tag-spam is a thing I believe. You know who you are and I want you to know I value you and am grateful for having you around, as are many others I suppose too.

Fuck it...I'm going to throw one more in: My brother @tarazkp. I would not be here if it wasn't for him. (So yeah, blame him). He has a reputation here it seems but to me he's just my little brother. I respect many things about him, most of them are off-steem things but I wanted to tag-spam him here because steem has come to mean a lot to me and I am grateful he harangued me to get my ass on here.😂

So, there you go. I really hope some of you take my lead and do the same. Remember to tag #gratitude-flame on the post. If you don't want to, or no one does, I guess that's ok too; Showing gratitude is a personal thing and some don't prefer to do so.

Howdy sir galenkp! I just saw this, I'm so honored! lol. I tell you what, I began following the great ginnyannette and sir meesterboom as soon as I got here and they have been two of my favorites. So being mentioned with them is very humbling because they're so dang good.

They're both incredibly gifted as you know but in totally different ways, it's the beauty of Steemit to allow us to enjoy such great writing. Your brother is totally awesome too, I don't follow him as closely but what a prolific and thought provoking writer!

Thanks so much for the mention and I'll catch ya on the next one!

No worries mate, your engagement earned your place on that list. I could have put way more too, but wanted to limit to the three. It's been good to engage with you and you're right, such an enjoyable platform where people and their thoughts, connect.

Yes sir I like the fact that we get to learn about so many different cultures, I think it helps bring people together and break down some stereotypes and possibly prejudices. I think in that respect the platform is actually a force for good.

Yes, and it seems more respectful a place than the other options don't you think? Are you on Facebook at all? I don't do it; Cancelled it a couple years ago. Best thing ever.

Picture of health that bloke. That's a heart attack waiting to happen.

Yeah, you'd probably run someone over if you drove here. Same as me driving there though.
